Here is a little figurative painting I just finished.

I made a frame for this coyote Portrait. We feel she’s our special friend because she escorts us through her territory. I wanted to capture her sweetness and her wildness simmering just underneath.

The Northern Flicker is a medium-sized woodpecker found across North America, known for its distinctive spotted plumage and undulating flight.
This painting is almost done. It just needs to dry enough for varnish. It has a nice black round frame to go with it.

Who knew mockingbirds could read?

Part of my painting process is to do under coats in a very limited pallet. In this case burnt umber and white. I use my own photo references, and this case I collage a redwood forest background I took near where I saw the elk. If you like this, I will post progress shots.

Here are some flower paintings to warm us up. I started painting flowers during the pandemic. I went on daily walks and would take pictures with my phone. It has blossomed into me being a full fledged wildlife artist.

I see an elk painting in my future.
