Thereβs an election THIS YEAR
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has gone from horrible to hell on earth. Over 60K people have been killed, mostly women & children.
The Netanyahu government must allow the UN-led aid distribution system to resume. Children are starving, and we are on the brink of a full-blown famine:

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Letβs hope others follow suit.
Letter from Dem Senator Chris Van Hollen (MD) requesting a meeting with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele
To discuss MD father Kilmar Abrego Garcia's return
"If Kilmar is not home by midweek β I plan to travel to El Salvador this week to check on his condition and discuss his release."
As someone who grew up in NJ, and an American, I am so proud of @corybooker.com for making a stand.
I would love to see my current representation in the Senate @vanhollen.senate.gov @alsobrooks.senate.gov do the same.
Elon Musk proves once and for all that money really canβt buy happiness.
I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.

Do any of my Canadian colleagues have recommendations for the best Canadian whiskies?
If youβre dismayed by whatβs going on right now, focus on 2026 and donβt lose focus.
Identify who your representatives are and be prepared to hold them to account.
Without significant change in 2026 all of the marches, phone calls and social media posts are moot.
Someone needs to tell whoever drafted that letter that the panel of expert scientists who scored your grant obviously did not find it βunscientificβ.
Moving that log would be the beaver equivalent of building Stonehenge
The catastrophic impact of all of these cuts with so little βsavingsβ indicates that the so-called bloat in the government is vastly exaggerated.
Weβre losing tremendous resources by cutting a fraction of what Elon Musk received in government handouts.
Congratulations Ed!
Great meeting at #BPS2025!

Wow, that guy is sensitive
I am strongly against the βbudget cutsβ and other βpolicyβ decisions that are being made - several seem to be illegal.
But having watched this circus since 2015, Iβm convinced that the responsible parties arenβt graded on their performance as much as the volume of outrage generated.
So if the 15% indirect cost cap stands. Does this mean that researchers will have to pay the reminder of operating expenses directly from the award?
Or are there NIH policies or laws that forbid this?
Wow! A flight I was on this week had 115 open seats. First time thatβs happened to me in years
Google AI summaries have introduced me to some great literature Iβve never seen before.
But thatβs mostly because itβs unrelated to what Iβm searching.
Well this doesnβt happen every day
