Eight students were recognized for Distinction in Research in Political Science-- Erika Alvarez, Langston Ford, Nadia Jenkins, Andrew Kim, Joshua Posada, Pedro Ribeiro, Dean Toumajian, and Ruoqing Wang
Six students completed honors thesis and graduated with honors in the political science major: Erika Alvarez, Langston Ford, Andrew Kim, Dean Toumajian, Ruoqing Wang, and Zach Yiannias.
The William P. Hobby Award for the best political science paper presented at a professional conference was won by @ricegradschool.bsky.social student @gustavogd.bsky.social for his paper "The Political Calculus of Anticorruption Reform."
The John Ambler award for best honors thesis was won by Andrew Kim for his thesis entitled "Veneration vs. Respect: Reevaluating Public Aversion to Amending the U.S. Constitution."
The Fred von der Mehden award to support international travel related to political science studies is awarded to Peter Ren.
The C.M. and Damaris Hudspeth award for best undergraduate seminar paper goes to Pedro Ribeiro for "Intra or Inter State Conflict? Rebellion as a Product of War."
Two students won the Douglas S. Harlan award, which goes to students who combine academic excellence and political involvement-- Bela Koshy and Precious Akinrinmade.
