Lol, just heard from a German friend who is calling the backup in the Straight of Hormuz right now the "fossil fuel dunkelflaute."

Niche humor.

Imagine an Iranian bomb had slaughtered 165 Israeli school kids.

Imagine the response of the Western media and politicians.

And note the lack of outrage and disgust here.

Two headlines. When Iranian government reports casualties, it is a claim but, when Israel does the same, it is a fact.

Just rewatched Vertigo last night (more than 20 years after the first viewing) with my kids. Blown away by the beauty and absolute perfection of Herrmann’s score.

The other day I saw a video of an historian (maybe?) saying he didn’t understand why billionaires are opposed to being taxed more because β€œtaxation is the compromise.” And that last ~500 years teaches us what happens when that compromise is not struck.

Can’t stop thinking about it.

Solar and batteries are cheap enough that most people can get most of their electricity from them, and save money. This equation gets better and better over time as their costs decline.

β€œofficialjackwhite This post would basically get anyone, at any job fired immediately...except for arguably the most important position in the world. That's right, trump is a racist, a rapist, a felon, a grifter (currently ordering the US govt. to pay him 10 billion dollars simply because no one will stop him.) and a full on dementia sufferer, and yet he has the power to send in gestapo ICE soldiers to kill our citizens, and so much more dangerously, has the nuclear codes and the ability to end humanity at any moment based on an egotistical whim. How is it possible we've given this evil man so much power? The two party system, the electoral college, the responsibility that the internet has brought to humanity and its direct conflict with truth, and America's obsession with celebrity, are all to blame, but the fact that we aren't stopping it is...insanity. Arrest this man. Impeach this man. 25th amendment this man. Indict this man. Jail this man. This longtime friend of pedophile epstein, who appears 40 thousand times in the files. This demolisher of the White House, demolisher of the Constitution, demolisher of the Bill of Rights, this demolisher of America full stop. It's hard to believe the government does almost nothing about this lunacy and we just all have to sit back and watch as a people. And when he's finally gone? we had better put into place new laws and regulations that don't allow anyone to find dangerous loopholes based solely on the assumption that our President has some sort of dignity and decency. Abolish these loopholes, abolish the electoral college, and if we had any sense we would abolish the two party system (that George Washington advised us never to have) that got us here in the first place and has failed not only Americans, but everyone else in the world who is currently suffering from our policies and suffering from the whims of this sick, deranged man who I will state again, has his tiny, bruised fingers on the…

The Trump regime's plan to rig the 2026 election is becoming clearer:

- Send ICE to polling locations to intimidate voters
- Attempt to federalize the elections and seize control of administration in critical states
- Cast doubt on the results and declare they've won
- If needed, seize ballot boxes

And now comes the most nauseating part of this whole goddamn mess: the hypocrisy. The same loud-mouthed idiots who spent years screaming about tyranny are suddenly dead fucking silent, or worse, cheering, now that it's their side doing it. "ThEy'Re cOminG fOr OuR gUnS!" "GoVerNMenT oVerReAch!" "ShAll nOt bE inFrinGeD!" All that chest-thumping bullshit evaporated the second armed federal agents started terrorizing people they don't like.
Let me get this straight: a civilian gets shot dead by federal agents, and the only thing you brainless cunts can muster is
"well, DHS says he had a gun"? THAT'S your red line? Guns are sacred when they're strapped to your waist, but magically become a death sentence when they're used as a post-hoc excuse by the government? Either the Second Amendment applies to everyone, or you never believed in it at all. Fucking pick one and own it.
This is exactly what tyranny looks like, by the way. Not jackboots marching in formation, but armed agents roaming neighborhoods, stopping people, killing civilians, and then daring the public to question it. Tyranny is execution followed by a press release. Tyranny is labeling the dead a "threat" so the state doesn't have to explain why someone's life just ended in the street. Tyranny is demanding obedience while shredding due process and calling it order.
And all you so-called "freedom lovers" are fucking fine with it, as long as it's brown people, immigrants, protesters, or anyone you've already dehumanized. Turns out "don't tread on me" actually meant "tread on them." You weren't afraid of tyranny.
You were afraid of losing dominance. There's a difference, and this moment exposes it completely.
"Just comply" isn't a principle. It's cowardice dressed up as common sense. It's the language of people who have already accepted that the state gets to decide who deserves rights and who doesn't. And once you make that deal, don't act shocked when the line moves, because it always fuckin…

Tumblr user nocryptographer:
I talked with someone who works in book publishing, and they mentioned they get a lot of AI slop these days. I asked how they know what's human-written, and they said that there's one thing that will reveal AI slop without error, and that's the author not knowing their own creation.
A real author can talk about their story for hours. They love to elaborate every character, every twist, every detail. Because those existed in their head long before they ever made it to the paper. They were loved before they were written.
AI slop wasn't. It was just vomited into existence.
Someone who generates their story with AI will never bond with their story the way real writers do. That's why they may not know what to say when they're asked why did the character do this, or even remember the scene in the first place. It's something they read, not something they wrote. And to a writer, those are not the same.
There's a unique bond between the creator and the creation. If your writing doesn't come of you, you'll always lack that.
I keep hearing soon we won't be able to tell. And perhaps, in a superficial sense, that's true. But there is a difference. It's not em dashes or repeated words. It's whether the story was made by someone who loves it and cares about it.
If the writer's eyes light up when asked why did the character do that? and they start their very own Ted Talk about that specific scene...
then it's real.

The calls from America this weekend to "abolish the EU" are for one simple reason: the EU is the only thing that can keep European nation-states from becoming Russian or American vassals.
