I am consistently reminded that in a weird-complicated-2+2=6-unexpected way, I end up living out my dreams.
For that, I am grateful.

I get home and go on Snapchat to respond to some messages then I open the memories tab and come across a picture I took of that tiny career plan.
Guess what? I’m not behind on anything. I’m literally exactly where I wanted to be. To the date. 🥹
A few hours ago I was at the gym and my mind wandered to this small note I made at work in 2020/21-ish about how I wanted my career path to look like.
I’ve been scared about going back home and ‘starting over’ or recalibrating into my old environment where people have two years over me.
I have twin nephews, named after my paternal and maternal grandfathers. It’s so funny that they look so different from each other but almost exactly like the grandfather they’re named after. ❤️

When I started my undergrad, I opened my first bank account which I named “abortion monies”. A savings account with adequate money for said needs.
Once every quarter, 10+ years later, I still get emails about it being credited. I’m always curious to see how big said savings account has grown.

Seeing Greenland in the news recently makes me feel bad how everyone talks of them and treats them as a colony still. A pawn with oil.
Not one mainstream media interview with the residents about what they want and feel. (A bit in Danish media though)
I hope they’re able to get independence.
What irked me about this was that they seemed proud of it.
“Look at us, we were also big and bad”
They had dates next to each colony section and Greenland said “1721 - ???”
The question marks threw me off the most. Like you know what you’re doing and somehow keep doing it.
I kinda wished I had that too.
Tried calling my family severally on Christmas Day, finally reached them a few days later. Everyone’s good, I probably had a better Christmas than them tbh. 😅

There’s a level of basic human decency lacks in a lot of Kenyan men.
