I didn’t read it, just did a simple search.
The FBI Raided A Reporter’s Home, Ignoring Laws Designed To Prevent Exactly That
If you want to understand how little the current administration cares about the First Amendment, look no further than a pre-dawn FBI raid on a journalist's home—conducted in apparent violation of a federal law…
Every time someone tells me that interoperable protocols are too complicated for the average person, I point out that they use email and the web.
The goal needs to be to get atproto to the point that it is just "how the internet works" and the details fade into the background like https & smtp.
Skipping the read (sorry): I’d be happy to show my ID to a human who would not save and or record my ID to a vulnerable database in exchange for simple online age verification.
Gosh. If only some widely read political media properties had been willing to call out Trump's disavowals as nonsense. If only.
I recall that over a decade ago, @barackobama.bsky.social put out a vaguely favorable statement regarding net neutrality, and the Ajit Pai/Brendan Carr folks in the FCC absolutely lost their minds, screaming "WE'RE AN INDEPENDENT AGENCY, HOW DARE HE TRY TO INFLUENCE US."
I tried to warn them...

Mamdani is brining free markets back to NYC by cutting through the red tape installed by anti-market capitalism!!!
Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.
Some changes that they can look forward to:
@mehrsab.bsky.social Are you familiar with @rohangrey.bsky.social ? I’d listen all day to you two discussing law and money.

There have been a lot of changes to ordering to remove as much human interaction as possible. Somehow, forcing all interactions to be mediated by technology has made everything painfully slow.
I’ve tried going inside to try to change it to carry out rather than dive through. Mostly everyone ignores you. If you do manage to change it everyone gets confused and the order is wrong (tried that last time).
@tacobell.bsky.social is the worst customer experience. My girls like it so I’m often stuck in a long slow car line waiting to check in so I can wait in the car line some more to get to the window where they will tell me to pull around and wait some more at the side door. 30 minutes minimum.
Andrew Cuomo is incapable of speaking clearly and directly about Trump’s authoritarianism.

Adapted from a prompt by Professor Benjamin Wilson (SUNY Cortland, Spring 2025), this assignment encourages students to perceive money and the labor it mobilizes as social forms that we can collectively remake.
This is the correct “can we afford it” framing for everything.
We always do infinitely more to support each other than what shows up on balance sheets. If work is being done, the capacity is there to pay people for it by definition. And the distributive effects are pretty much always positive.
"Blue Bonds are the good version of Trump's beloved shitcoins. Rather than wildcat money created by and for speculators, Blue Bonds are a source of public prosperity, backed by a present or future Fed under democratic control, accountable to the people."

There’s an element of trust too. If you are on an AI platform doing social stuff you can trust that everything is fiction. When you are on a social platform you can’t use a simple assumption of mostly real or mostly fictional.
@mmasnick.bsky.social the answer is context!
As an engineer, I deal with lots and lots of numbers. What brings value to my work is the context I bring to those numbers as I help project leaders make informed decisions.
A Memo To Corporate America: How To Stop Being Cartoon Villains
I’ve spent considerable time lately documenting how America’s corporate elite have transformed themselves into the exact cartoon villains that Marxists always claimed they were—groveling before authoritarian power, paying tribute to…
I know so little about Africa; I appreciated this episode a lot. I would encourage other listeners to broaden the their understanding of how Africa came to be trapped in their current situation by also learning from Fadhel Kaboub.

It is *literally* "I'm fine with the Nazis and fascists, but can't stand the people who pointed out I was full of shit."
My goodness.
the President, who is not running for election, still sends out fundraising emails on the daily. this guy does ads saying "we've reached the max we can spend, don't give us more money." remarkable stuff that I think resonates with people who yearn for change and justice
