One way of thinking about a boundary - what purpose do these commentators’ views serve? Do they have any practical proposals that a democratic government could implement, that are economically realistic? How does it align with GB News’ newsgathering role or aspiration to cover/represent all the UK?

It would be interesting to know what reporting GB News is doing on Muslim communities around the country during Ramadan. From the perspective of large parts of London, the West Mids, the North West and West Yorkshire, these prejudiced commentators sound like foreigners, ignorant about Britain

Some examples of how the energy crisis is affecting South Asia.

1. Pakistan will close schools for the next two weeks, get government employees to work from home and universities will shift to online learning.

Polls have closed in the first of this year's five German state elections, in prosperous Baden-WΓΌrttemberg. It's looking like a remarkable win-from-behind by the Greens under @oezdemir.de. Full results over the course of the evening.

Many commentators on the Right seem to like talking in catchphrases. β€œMass migration” - what does it mean? β€œMulticulturalism” (in the 2020s not the 1960s-80s sense) - what does it mean? Other than signalling β€œI want to signal my politics by waving around these words”

Can he define exactly what he means by β€œMuslim bloc voting” and give evidence of this? Does it mean any more than β€œMuslims voting (in a way I disagree with)”?

But I’d argue Trump himself is also using language playfully here, by making a wild and brazen claim (it isn’t clear to me whether he really
believes the war is won or not, or whether he cares - the point is the unabashed provocation and manipulation)

Interesting to note in a word of change that both Dillon and Glen Owen have been consistently at the MoS since the Blair era, Dillon joining from the Express in 2001

London borough says anyone can grow veg on blank patches of council land If a piece of land owned by Hounslow Council is a blank canvas, residents need only ask to grow fruit and veg on it

I'm pleased to announce that today, Hounslow has become the first council in West London, and one of the first in the country, to introduce a #RightToGrow policy.

Our new policy, backed by #DowtonAbbey 's Jim Carter, allows community groups to take over unloved public land and #garden it.

What do you make of the 2025 county council elections (ie both the strength of Reform’s performance compared to polling, and the impact of low turnout levels as well as respect and tolerance on Reform’s chances)?

Not at all - people should follow career paths they want to. Huge value imho for people with humanities background (like me) learning scientific or technical skills later, and vice versa. Also salutary that tradespeople + technicians can command very good salaries (doesn’t make them β€˜better’ jobs)

It’s a massive movement now! Should be judged by every layer of its elected officials and membership not just its generals imho, notwithstanding its lack of internal democracy so far

I’m certain you are right on the policy level, but products of grammar schools of all class background are often hugely proud of their education, and I think that factor of personal experience (and inevitable bias/romanticisation) should be acknowledged too - it’s not just about galling hypocrisy

Oh this is remarkable - only 80,000 spaces or 2.5% of parking spots in NYC are metered, compared to 3 million free parking spaces! In London there are 1 million paid-for parking spaces

Reform are actively pitching "out deport Trump" but there is not yet any awareness of the sheer unprecedented scale of Reform disenfranchise+deport plan for legal migrants from the Commonwealth.

Most people don't know Reform will strip non-Europeans of permanent status (respecting it for Europeans)

The self-righteous Guardian couldn’t bring itself to include a Reform or a Reform-sympathetic analyst on its panel dissecting the Gorton by-election result. Does the Guardian think ~30% of the population are lepers? Disservice to journalism and to grown-up political discourse
