An attempt was made. I might need to reduce the blur on the mech's silhouette (based on a model by Michael Schiffer I found at Unsplash), but this turned out way better than expected. PS2 covers were the biggest inspiration here.

The Absolute Trinity only clicked for me when I realised Darkseid stacked *every* possible odd against them AND took away their cornerstones, yet they still rose to the challenge. They're rougher and edgier than their Prime counterparts, but their hope and idealism are still as heroic as ever.

Too much realism can be harmful, tbh, and I think your take on this strikes a good balance between fostering imprudence (as in, the players don't have to worry about noise at all) and punishing the party for making any noise at all.

Yeah, keeping it situational might be more realistic/immersive than just rolling random encounters every time the party engaged in combat. Reaction rolls for nearby denizens would definitely help with this, and perhaps even circumvent the encounter roll entirely, at least for fully prepped dungeons.

Combat is noisy, and echoes can travel pretty far inside cramped or cavernous dungeons. Do y'all usually make additional encounter rolls when a fight goes on for more than a few rounds? Personally, I like the realism this brings, but it makes combat even more of a fail state.

I feel like the lighter a game is, the more space it should dedicate to advising the readers (GM and players alike) on how to actually use its rules. Rules light + advice heavy is a perfect combo, and it's also the reason why I love Electric Bastionland so much.

We're on the verge of implementing such measures here in Brazil, and I fear it's too late to fight back. It's a big election year for us, and this is probably going to be one of the biggest talking points for every candidate. We had a HUGE scandal involving online exploitation of minors last year.

I think Cairn and Into the Odd pretty much pioneered this format of kicking off the book with an overview of player principles, and I kinda ran with it for all my games, lmao. Yeah, the indent has to go. It's the sort of thing that works when the text is heavy on multiple paragraphs in succession, or when the first paragraph has a dropcap, but this isn't the case.

Depending on the rules employed, hexes can definitely turn into abstractions! Some games put in a lot of work into respecting the feasible distances for a group of adventurers, turning every possible detail into a modifier, but I think those are the exception.

Concessions are probably my least favourite part of those rules, so I totally get ya. It's great in theory, but players usually *hate* conceding, even when it's in their best interests. V5 even tells you to REWARD them for it, to no avail.

I'd love to see more of those one-roll designs, by the way!
