He/him Chicagoan, stroke survivor, dev, moving further to the Left as I get older & more pissed off. I probably repost too damn much. And make too many grammatical errors & tpyos. Also @refrag@mastodon.cloud, but that's dormant.

Sure. I'm talking about what the *candidates* say and do, not us voters.

I just served a new, bogus attack ad on him from these clowns. And also one from "Common Ground Collective", a Chicago PAC funded by Michael Sachs, that has been making attacks on every progressive Democrat in the area for the last few years.

Mpls people still need help with back rent. Our mayor is about to veto an eviction extension, no eviction moratorium from the state. Raising $$ like this is the only way to keep people in their homes

Your reminder that Luddites—the actual people in the early 1800s, not modern, incoherent, quarrelsome online anprims (iykyk)—were not inherently anti-technology, but specifically against new technologies that were deployed to take away their standard of living, actually decent for their era
Post: calling “you’re so brave” or “i hold space for trans people” or “my self work involves decentering cisnormativity” style rhetoric that is ultimately contentless and divorced from real concerns allyslop Reply: In This House signs, an allyslop classic
I feel like these are two different things, the In This House signs are a way for normal people to signify that they support trans/minority rights while the jargon is a way to tell people you've spent time in activist/academic circles
We need reparations for ICE victims.
Anything short of that is setting the stage for a massive wealth grab from people of color that will re-entrench racial disparities for generations.
Online point-scoring is praxis, unlike, say, volunteer work
there's a whole bloc of terminally online leftists who have misunderstood the concept of systemic problems to the effect of no longer believing people have agency. this is how you get "smoking on the bus is good actually" & "maybe the guy had a reason for throwing a rock into the post office window"
claude is down, it's a good time to go demand your nearest software developer actually hand-write some code so you can watch them sweat
Ron Cobb, near-forgotten genius political cartoonist.
He also did visual design of technology for the first Alien film and countless other scifi movies in the 70s/80s. Including the Weyland-Yutani Semiotic Standard - a visual language used for Nostromo signage.
So mad this will be true for a second time
80s singer Thomas Dolby on raising queer kids: "the eldest is trans, the middle is a lesbian, and the youngest is a drummer"
The 3 genders
The attempts to counter argue here are wild. ’Christ was unvaccinated’ is an instant classic.
The problem is, everyone I’ve spoken to in MAGAworld content creation — comms staff, influencers, whomever — knows their identity. In off-the-record conversations, people will simply tell me their name as soon as I ask the question, as they’re familiar with the memelord’s style from interactions in the disappearing MAGA group chats. (I do have to pause for a second and acknowledge that the meme zoomers have better opsec than the senior officials who did Signalgate a year ago.) But the moment I ask if they’d be willing to go on background about it — surely they aren’t Nazis, and shouldn’t they call out behavior in their own ranks? — sources immediately clam up. If I prod, they’ll shrug it off as everyone’s just having fun.
So @tinanguyen.bsky.social has spent weeks trying to identify the person at DHS who posts all the racist memes, and instead uncovered a fascinating code of silence: everyone in Trump's Washington knows who it is, but refuses to say. Gift link! -> www.theverge.com/column/89298...

there was also a Stanford study that found that a surge in AI slop by lazy people actually created significantly more work for others who had to decipher and correct it
this "I'm being efficient" (but not really) vibes well with the American obsession with artifice and appearing productive
Commodity analyst Paul Sankey on CNBC, with an unnerving analogy:
"Some of us are looking at this a bit like what we saw with Covid, where the market seemed to be 'air-walking', regardless of what was clearly a very bad situation -- and then, suddenly, you know, collapsed when it all came home."

It's not clear if that photo is one of these
Again, I'm neither Handing It To Him or the general Dem delegation, just wondering about tactics.
Jeffries sucks, but he is in his position because of votes from other Dems representatives. So you're not just coming in a freshman at war with one guy, but with the majority of your new colleagues. Not all of whom are worthless, or who suck in the same way as he.
It's biblical and would be wonderful if the Christian Nationalists would actually act as though Christ is the poor, the downtrodden, the immigrant, etc. like it is written in the bible they pretend to follow.
Christ said to feed the hungry, give shelter to those without, to love your neighbour.
It's not just that he refused to condemn Ogles and Fine; he endorsed the substance of their vile messages, taking issue only with their "tone," and he introduced a new line of bigotry-fueled conspiracy theory about Muslims wanting to impose sharia law. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
