When I ordered metric on June 5, I remember seeing the text for shipping end of June next to the buy button. That's also the only text that appears on my order confirmation page to this day. It would be nice if this was corrected and everyone that is waiting on orders actually gets told about it.

Another thing to consider is Singapore Airlines 5th freedom route from LAX to Tokyo. Not as great as your non-stop from NYC, but another option that I personally found better business availability on when I needed it last year.
Since I presume you are booking via United and not ANA directly, partner availability can sometimes be limited and only open up a week or two before the flight. I had to book my ANA business class in that tiny window.
I use seats.aero. I've been able to book a circumnavigation in business class on Star Alliance using it.
