I remember having the same issue; I think it worked after I removed it from my account and then added it again directly from the Steam client? Can also try this: steamcommunity.com/app/3567030/...

Similarly, there's The Untitled Tower, a pretty lengthy (40+ hours) action platformer that's also made entirely by a single dev over the course of like a decade. Completely free, and filled with some creative bosses and tricky platforming. An awesome plot too.

Bloom Thrice, a pretty great metroidvania from last year, made entirely by a single dev (including all the art and music!) and sitting at 22 reviews. It has some really cool boss fights and a surprisingly neat story.

17. Gigasword (2025)
Clear time (98%): 12h 35m
Really great metroidvania with a surprisingly good story/writing. Incredibly multitalented solo developer.

Victory over the final boss of Rabbit and Steel EX mode on Lunar difficulty without taking any damage
Lunar EX no-hit finally cleared after like 26 hours. The Spellbound Floof is mine...
16. Wavetale (2021)
Clear time: 3h 16m
I don't remember why I bought this. Unfortunately it ended up not really being a good game for me.

new Savage fight is by far the hardest in the game, took me like 5 hours to clear. Some pretty cool mechanics though www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xyql...
Tearscape being kind of mid put me in the mood to play a good Zeldalike, though I haven't really been impressed with most of the indie ones I've played. Maybe it's finally time to play Parallel Worlds...
15. Tearscape (2026)
Clear time (100%): 5h 45m
Slightly above-average 2D Zeldalike/metroidvania with a Bloodborne aesthetic. It was okay, but a bit too easy/short for me to really think much of it.

Victory screen for Rabbit and Steel Extra Mode on Lunar difficulty, using the Pyromancer rabbit
Finally eked out a solo Lunar clear of the Rabbit and Steel DLC, after choking to the final boss like 5 times. Maybe I've just gotten better, but it definitely felt a lot more manageable than the base game. Overall, excellent stuff.
I was hoping Parasite Eve II would be an improvement on the original systems, but instead it feels like a completely different game... I don't think I'll ever enjoy using tank controls.
14. Parasite Eve (1998)
Clear time (normal end): 9h 40m
Decent ideas but weak in execution. The combat is kind of neat at least. And the music slaps.

MC rabbit standing with Tassha, Saya, Blush, and the crow/wolf from the main game whose names I don't remember Tassha, the Snowfur Wolf: "Farewell! Farewell rabbit! Until you meet Tassha again!"
13. Rabbit & Steel: Extra Mode (2026)
Clear time (story clear / solo+Hard): 14h 18m
Great update for a great game. The new bosses/classes/music are all good. The ending cutscene was cute too. Crazy that it's just a free update.
Still have to do Lunar/multiplayer at some point...
Excellent final boss theme www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5PY...
12. Rebel Transmute (2024)
Clear time (76%): 8h
It's a perfectly standard metroidvania, but it's slightly above average since it has A Bit of challenge.

I recommend Peaks of Yore for a similar experience
11. Labyrinth of Touhou Tri: The Dreaming Girls & The Mysterious Orbs (2026)
Clear time (Normal): 56h 58m
Maybe the most complex JRPG combat system, with some of the hardest bosses in the entire genre, even on Normal difficulty.

Yeah, back in like 2024 apparently. I never really followed the development at all, just played it recently off a friend's recommendation.
10. Secrets of Grindea (2024)
Clear time (Expert 2-player): 22h 36m
Pretty fun co-op action RPG. Excellent boss fights and a surprisingly fun story. Despite the name, you don't really have to grind thaaaaat much.

Another short and simple metroidvania. Decently fun though.

7. Witchroid Vania (2025)

Short and simple metroidvania that doesn't really do anything particularly interesting.

6. Limbus Company: Canto 9 (2026)
Clear time: 9h 25m
Incredible stuff. Kind of a weaker ending, but makes up for it with the rest being nonstop kino. Unfortunately the Mili song doesn't really work for me this time, but the other boss themes make up for it in spades.
Happy birthday!
5. Quest: Brian's Journey (2000)
Clear time: 5h 38m
Surprisingly playable (but still not particularly good)

Oh god I tried the hardest difficulty and it really is fucked up. Genuinely don't think I can beat it without extensively following a guide (and even then)
