FIRST STAR β MARK SCHEIFELE, C, WINNIPEG JETS
"Scheifele compiled 3-5β8 and a pair of game-winning goals across three appearances to propel the Jets (26-26-10, 62 points) to a perfect week"
Scheifele was named first star of the NHL for the week that ended March 8.
As close as the #NHLJets get? The beginning of fresh magic? Or something mushier and more middling.
What say you, Jets fans?
(Note: Seattle is playing Ottawa and San Jose is playing the Islanders right now)
As Josh Morrissey sets a new #NHLJets/Thrashers/Winnipeg record for most points by a defenceman (417), remember your @downgoesbrown.bsky.social:
The Jets are the Jets ‡οΈ

The assists go to Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor. The one-time blast goes off a Canucks skate on its way into the goal.
3-2 Winnipeg OT final.
Josh Morrissey, overtime winner and new franchise record holder for most points by a Winnipeg Jets defenceman (417).
The #NHLJets are within five points of a wild card spot.
Winnipeg starts OT with Lowry, Perfetti, and Samberg
Teppo Numminen has more with the original franchise, but you have to count his Arizona years for that so what are we doing.

Josh Morrissey's assist on Gabriel Vilardi's unbelievable power play goal ties Morrissey with Dustin Byfuglien atop the #NHLJets all-time points list by a defenceman.
Gabriel Vilardi just put himself on the year end highlight reel. 2-2 on Vilardi's dirty, dangling drop-step on the power play.
Max Sasson cross-checks Dylan DeMelo into the boards face first. Jonathan Toews steps in for a moment. The #NHLJets are off to the power play.
Rookie foibles exist but Elias Salomonsson makes a lot of plays that convey he'll be able to handle tough competition and play at speed as a top four D someday.
Γhgren's one-timer was from a great spot but also had the advantage of bouncing off of Jonathan Toews on the way in.
Liam Γhgren scores 34 seconds into the third period. 2-1 Canucks.
Doc Walker playing during the second intermission.
Scheifele's game-tying goal comes with 12 seconds left in the period, sending Winnipeg to the intermission tied 1-1.
The flow of play has been almost all #NHLJets.
A win would bring Winnipeg within 5 points of Seattle, who plays later tonight, for WC2.
Mark Scheifele picks up Jonathan Toews' faceoff win, rockets a shot top shelf to tie it, and turns to the crowd.
No. 55 is fired up and now so is Canada Life Centre. 1-1.
Vaguely amusing/awkward dichotomy available:
Dominating the worst team in the NHL and failing to score wouldn't be much of a moral victory
vs.
The #NHLJets are really all over it, playing much faster tonight, and looking like a team that should score
Unbelievable that Winnipeg hasn't scored this period. Grade A's beside mostly open nets galore.
Get right with the hockey gords, #NHLJets
Winnipeg is playing a much faster brand of hockey than we're used to seeing this season, but it's 1-0 Vancouver after the first.
The goal was a Linus Karlsson wrist shot that rode up Josh Morrissey's stick and went top shelf on Connor Hellebuyck.
Loud ovation as the #NHLJets introduce new arrivals Isak RosΓ©n and Jacob Bryson on the scoreboard during the break.
Winnipeg has plenty of jump but Linus Karlsson has given Vancouver a 1-0 lead.
For anyone else seeing this, I've looked into it and Aavco Cup is correct here. The highlighted portion is an error on my part.
Winnipeg's trade deadline was a step back to good asset management, but there's much more to be done.
How do the #NHLJets get all of the way back to a contending track?

Logan Stanley has made it to Buffalo, but he and Luke Schenn are still working through their visa situations so they won't be in the Sabres' lineup tonight.

The #NHLJets did the hard thing at the 2026 NHL trade deadline.
They did the smart thing.
And by taking small steps in the right direction, they reminded us how far Winnipeg still has to go to contend:
