'Uh Nana' by Daniela Blasco:

It has attitude but again, this song is all over the place. The instrumental started a bit like Crazy In Love. I think the hook is fine, but the tempo change at the end is wild. And I don't like when singers try to 'rap'.

'Te Escribo En El Cielo' by Lucas Bun:

The start vs. the rest of it. (Opened very strong and then he didn't dare to keep it small and it just became a bit unnecessarily bombastic, which took all the emotion out for me.)

'Reinas' by Sonia & Selena:

This is just Paola & Chiara in Sanremo but worse? They asked the people at Benidorm Fest: 'How many schlagery tunes do you want this year?', and they said: 'Yes'. Again, fun for what it is. Campy. Needs some pre-drinks.

'Raggio Di Sole' by Mawot:

Spantalian dad schlager. There is a market for it and I appreciate it for what it is. This gets fun after 10 Aperol Spritzes, but I'm not there yet. 😂

'No Lo Ves' by Henry Semler:

I'm not moved, but his voice is nice on this track in the moments when the rasp doesn't take over. Song doesn't go anywhere. I'm gonna keep hoping I just hit a shit patch of multiple bad entries in a row and it's going to pop off now.

'Me Gustas Tú' by K!NGDOM:

Pop song by numbers that lacks any punch. I'm starting to lose faith in this competition. When is it going to get good? No me gusta nada.

'Mala Feminista' by Chica Sobresalto:

Fuck me. Just when I thought it couldn't get more boring, this early Taylor Swift meets fucking Disney Channel tune comes on. No words to describe how shit this one is.

'LOCA XTI' by Kuve:

Boring. Yawning. Sloppy. Lazy.
Struggled to make it to the end.

'La Pena' by DeTeresa:

Another song that doesn't know what it wants. It seems to be a theme this year. Transitions are choppy. I also don't think her voice is very nice to listen to. Soz.

'La Casa' by Celine van Heel:

Bonus points for being Dutch. This instantly transports me to those little jazz festivals you have in the city during summer. Those are some of my favourite days of the year, so this is definitely something I enjoy.

'I'm A Queen' by Mel Ömana:

Can't focus on this one. I honestly just think it's a bit shit. Would always skip this on a playlist.

'Hartita De Llorar' by Lachispa:

This feels personal. Howerver, the plot twist is a bit jarring and I'm not sure if I find the shouty bits very pleasant to listen to. I appreciate that she's doing something different though.

'Esa Diva' by Melody:

If you ask a C-artist to write a pride anthem, this is what you get. Cliché and schlagery. Fun for the wine mums to do a side step to, but it's not a quality entry by any means.

'Bésame' by Carla Frigo:

This sounds like what I imagine a stew would taste like if you added no seasoning to it. You throw a bunch of random shit into a pan, but it still lacks any flavour.

'Amor Barato' by David Afonso:

This is giving flopped latin artist in Miami. I think the flow in the chorus is nice enough, easy listening and it somehow gives me Cuban vibes, but the verses really let this down. I just zone out during those.

#BenidormFest is one of the national selections that I will probably watch, so I'm listening to the songs.

In een poging om meer muziek van zwarte artiesten in de Top 2000 te krijgen, heb ik dit jaar enkel op liedjes van zwarte artiesten gestemd. Klein succesje: een aantal nummers die er al instonden zijn wat posities gestegen, maar we hebben óók 1 nieuwe binnenkomer: Stevie Wonder's 'As'.

This means I'm also in full support of the call to #BoycottEurovision.
