Loved putting this together!
@grindrod
Social historian of modern places. Tales of the Suburbs, on LGBTQ+ history, out March 2026. Wrote Concretopia and Iconicon. Also, maps. Disappointingly unserious. Podcast: Monstrosities Mon Amour https://linktr.ee/johngrindrod

So looking forward to the first Tales of the Suburbs event tonight, at Foyles with the brilliant @luketurner.bsky.social www.johngrindrod.co.uk/events
Thank you so much! I really love that sort of thing too. It was a delight to write, I could have carried on for pages more...
Thank you! So much fun to write
Not a real doctorβ¦
Yes! How odd
Very odd that was the Clothes Show themeβ¦
If, like me, youβve been a Pet Shop Boys fan ever since there were Pet Shop Boys, you might like this piece I wrote for the Quietus thequietus.com/opinion-and-...
Thank you so much!
Whoop!
Thank you so much! x
Interviewing Mat for Tales of the Suburbs was an utter delight
And I was honoured to be able to share your story x
An absolute dream to write this for @thequietus.com about Pet Shop Boys, suburbia and the city
I imagined they were going to wrap it in a giant red rose
Great, another podcast to listen to!
(That there's an episode just titled 'Swindon' had me subscribing)
Gaby was amazing
Thank god

Join @luketurner.bsky.social and I at Foyles on Wednesday to talk Tales of the Suburbs. Bring your own Gypsy Creams www.johngrindrod.co.uk/events
Really lovely to have Tales of the Suburbs featured in this beautiful article by Luke, also taking in the marvellous Bishopsgate Institute and the brilliant history of Switchboard, The Log Books
Oooh! In the actual world?!
A nostalgic monstrosity for me. As a kid, going to "the pyramid" to see a film was incredibly exciting. Then, Northampton got its first multiplex and I didn't go back until the early 2000s and a friend from 6th Form wanted to see a Bollywood film they were showing.
