Twisted though it is, Trump didn't create those feelings. He just revealed them. That bitterness and hate was already widespread. His voters just needed someone to tell them it was okay to be the worst versions of themselves, and he did exactly that.
I respectfully disagree. Tens of millions of people went to bat for him at the ballot box even after the colossal disasters and blatant hate he fomented in his first term. They wanted the chaos and the hate back, because that's what lives in their souls. 1/2
But let's be fair in our assessment of the situation. We can't talk about the moral rot of this administration without first acknowledging the moral rot that has swept through our communities. Trump didn't happen in a vacuum. He's the byproduct of a society wide "fuck you" mentality.

Our ability to live among people who are not like us and, in good faith, lift up our neighbors and communities is what makes us who we are. Our strength as Americans is diversity.
I find these themes coming out as I engage with my art, in particular my writing. At a young age I started seeking out other faiths in hope I might find something without the underpinning and endemic homophobia I grew up with to define it, but in almost every tradition some form of it exists.
For many of us, the relationship between our religious upbringing and the way we develop into who we will eventually be is predicated on rejection and neutralization. Eliminate the eccentricities. We become our own policing body as we seek to conform, and upon coming out, learn to reject the mask.

I think it's presumptuous to assume most of these politicians care about the average person at all. Vast majority are just posturing. When I see action, maybe I'll change my tune, but their actions speak louder than their words. And they are mostly just words.
Let's clarify this a bit. The U.S. judicial system is usurping the function of the international courts at The Hague to settle a conflict we started with a the leader of a sovereign nation we abducted from his homeland, while we're effectively annexing his country.
I doubt it, but Americans in general certainly won't be welcome there. Trump is making the world a much more dangerous place for us because of his greed.
Well that certainly comes across as a byproduct of social media culture. I've met plenty of people like thatand they have tended to be pretty vapid lol. But yeah, I feel like it's a modern day Dances With Wolves set on an alien planet. I like that movie too, but it does have the same flaw.
In every bit of fairness, my personal grievance is the characters are flat and it gives white savior vibes. The movies are watchable. I just don't know why we need so many sequels. I think they're still planning two more after this.
