My first trip to Mexico I went to Merida, and there was a Chili's around the corner from the house we were staying at. It was packed with Americans every time we walked past it.

I've been saying this for a while. It's just continuous psychic warfare.

tariffs happening for no reason and theyre making your life worse, secret police kidnapping people for no reason and making your life worse, firing thousands of government employees for no reason and making your life worse, going to war with iran for no reason and making your life worse
Every day the economic experts get up and are like βwe think today is the day the racists will use logicβ
I think every school for adventurers should include chair throwing in their hand-to-hand combat lessons.
I worked at a restaurant where the bartender would give me a double espresso martini (2 shots each of vodka, espresso & kaluah) in a pint glass over ice as my end-of-shift drink, and I would hit the town ready to fight.
I have no idea what this is.
Celebrating Mar10 day?
Buddy, we're probably less than a mile away from each other. I got you.
Oh my GOD, yes. And it took DECADES for the music licensing issues to be resolved, so they couldn't replay it or release it on video/dvd.
Reminds me of another Russian joke:
"On average we live well. Worse than last year, yes. But better than next year, so..."
In six months we're going to find out Open AI was Mechanical Turk-ing DoD's tomahawk target selection using folks in Bangalore making $.50 a day.
A lot of it was evident during the Obama years, but the degree to which everything was (and is) just threadbare bad faith arguments and justifications has become so painfully obvious it's clear they're not even trying to pretend anymore.
Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw.
Update: last night when I put him to bed he asked me to call him T-Rex when I woke him up this morning.
Thanks for clarifying. No, I was a lone American in a room full of strangers at a hotel social event in Nairobi. There were some Brits there as well, and I think even they were uncomfortable with the dialogue. Went twice and never went back.
When I'm out of my element I keep my mouth shut and my eyes and ears open. It's a useful way to learn things.

Philip K. Dick was really cooking when he said "the empire never ended" huh?
Those are yellow ajis and a weird Romanian variety.
Just now realizing that Roger Moore is just as ridiculous of a double entendre name as Pussy Galore.
A freshly planted seedling tray.
First batch of pepper and tomato seeds started.
When I worked in Kenya, I regularly ended up in social situations as a white American w/ white S. African professionals. Their conversations *always* went like this:
Drinks 1+2:
"Yea, we're from South Africa, but we're not racists like our parents were."
From drink 3 on:
"[insanely racist shit]"
Man, I think covid response really just completely killed traditional water fountains. They still haven't reopened the ones in my son's school, and I rarely see them working anywhere these days.
Oh, damn. In 2008 I wrote a paper on self-immolation (pre-arab spring, in fact). Read pretty much everything on self-immolation that was published on the topic in English up to that point and went way down that rabbit hole in the process. Pretty sure the conspiracy theory is correct.
So, weird question, are you familiar with the Cracker song "Shine a Light"?
Open lime blossom.
Lime tree is all LFG!
New theory: Sleep apnea is an evolutionary adaptation intended to scare away potential nocturnal predators with disturbingly loud snoring while sleeping.
Baltimore. On 26th Street above the CSX line.
3 years ago today I visited Hansa Studios, where Bowie recorded much of his Berlin trilogy. Iggy Pop, Depeche Mode, Nick Cave, EinstΓΌrzende Neubauten, Souxie & the Banshees, Wire, the Pixies, and U2 also recorded seminal albums there.
I got to play the piano that Heroes and One were written on.
Cocuses (?) blooming in the springlike morning.
It's happening.
