That means avoiding crowds, socializing privately at home versus in busy public spaces, and wearing masks when you can (such as when commuting, traveling, and in crowded places.) The research tells us the world changed in 2020 and did not “return to normal” just because the public health emergency was ended. The mortality rate of acute illness declined, although COVID is still a leading cause of death and kills far more people than we count and report. But as COVID continues to surge multiple times a year and reinfect people, we all face risks that may only become apparent over time. Stay safe, friends.
