Entering my first-year, I was already aware that most of my classmates were better at math than me and that I would need to push myself very hard to pass. A surprise math quiz on day one taught me nothing, and in fact shook my fragile confidence that I deserved to be there.
I think they are using cold-blooded in the legal sense, which refers to the premeditated, planned, nature of a crime. Versus a βhotβ crime of passion.
