I've kind of suspected this for a long time, specifically looking at my alma mater SVA, but it's really encouraging to see someone's broken it all down.
The NYC comics scene needs a real competitor and replacement for these finance-captured institutions
whoaaa ive always had questions and crit about what is going on in their backend (on top of their fee to guaranteed space ratio which I still feel like is a lot even compared to more lucrative shows pricing range imo) so thank you so much for these insights!!
anyway, if you're applying to MoCCA as an artist and don't understand why you can't get a table year after year, uh, turns out you're competing for about 90 slots out of the 130 or so left after sponsors get tables.
and if you want a four-foot table you're actually fighting for *maybe* 30 slots.
