It’s been a wild morning outside of City Hall – we had two HSI vehicles illegally parked on Minneapolis police parking right next to City Hall. The tow was called and had started being put on the car when the HSI agents arrived in shame, and were booed out by the several people, staff, & CMs.

If mayor Frey could come down from his ivory tower and join us on the ground for 5 minutes maybe the vetoes of policies that would help our residents recover from this ICE invasion would not be vetoed. 2/

Right now we have HSI vehicles outside of city hall parked in MPD parking spots and electronic media vehicle parking spots. They say it’s for a “criminal investigation” but we’ve all seen the horrors they commit along with collateral kidnappings. 1/

Minneapolis eviction notice extension ordinance vetoed by Mayor Frey Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has vetoed an ordinance that would have extended eviction notices to 60 days, up from 30, until August for renters in the wake of increased immigration enforcement.

Mayor Frey’s veto today will contribute to mass evictions of residents in our city who were targeted by Operation Metro Surge.

It is always more cost-effective to prevent eviction than to try and re-house families who have been evicted. It’s commonsense policy, rooted in compassion.
