House Republicans and a handful of Democrats followed the Senate in blocking a measure Thursday to stop President Donald Trump from furthering the war in Iran without authorization from Congress. Georgia’s congressional delegation voted along party lines.

We wish this was a politically boring time, and America’s 250th birthday could be memorialized and celebrated simply with fireworks and kitschy parades.
Unfortunately, it’s up to us to make some new history with organized people power at a scale this country has never seen.
We’re glad that Kristi Noem has been fired and she should face real accountability for DHS’ rampant violence.
But Noem’s firing doesn’t suddenly solve the crisis at DHS. Swapping personnel without changing course is not accountability — it’s a spin tactic. What we really need is structural change.
