Dolphin Progress Report: Release 2603
Dolphin started out as a GameCube emulator in 2003. In 2008, experimental Wii support was added. And now, in 2026, Dolphin enters the realm of arcade emulation with support for the Sega, Namco, and Ni...
Release 2603 is live! In this Progress Report, we improved the NAS experience, have an epic tale of a math bug and the community that would not give up, patched more games, doubled the performance of Rogue Squadron III, and more!

GameCube games in 240p usually end up looking like 3DS games... and I have a theory as to why!
The 3DS's 3D display, in 2D mode, has a very pronounced "scan line" effect, similar to a double-struck 240p on a CRT (which i assume these pics are?)
So our brains bridge the gap and it looks normal!

05/46*: Assault on the Control Room (CE)
Scorpion tank and rocket launchers are fun, even if I kept blowing myself up with splash damage
Also my power went out halfway through, how fun!

04/45: The Silent Cartographer (CE)
I got lost here... a lot
Probably not helped by being in VC with a few other people and it also being 1AM

03/45: The Truth and Reconciliation (CE)
I got lost in the ship a bunch.
I also seem to have misremembered the plot.
Throwing grenades down the halls and hearing a bunch of enemy cries at once was fun though
Got slashed by the gold elites about 5 times

Desert section!
The sniper rifle shines here, sneakily taking out enemies... despite it being loud as hell, the Covenant don't hear a thing.
Either that, or they actually do, and are planning to jump us while we think they're unaware

02/45: Halo (CE)
This level is a lot less fun when you keep accidentally driving your Warthog off a cliff
Still an iconic level though

01/45: Pillar of Autumn (CE)
Was pretty fun jumping over the marines to skip waiting for them to move, hehe
Actually died once because I'm playing on Normal this time instead of on Easy like when I was 13 and 14 (I also played MCC on Xbox for a bit, and my achievements migrated to Steam? cool ig)

01/45: Pillar of Autumn (CE)
I have actually played CE before, but that was on the very old PC port
I, of course, had to fidget with the settings for a while to find a good mapping (and deadzones on controller)
Good first level, MCC streamlined the tutorial popups to not pause gameplay, nice!

Mission 01/45: The Pillar of Autumn (Halo CE)
MCC defaults to anniversary graphics (meh), so skip the first cutscene, swap to classic graphics, restart level, just to watch the actual cutscene because the "swap graphics" keybind only works for cutscenes in Halo 2

Three panel comic. Panel 1: baby monkeys in overalls jumping on a bed, having fun. Panel 2: one of the monkeys falls over the edge of the bed, reaching out as he falls. Panel 3: one of the other monkeys, now looking super buff and badass, grabs him by the arm to save him heroically. βMonkey Stronger Together.β

a picture of a Konami Python 2, which is composed of a literal, entire, retail PlayStation 2 console, case and all - exactly the same unit as you'd buy at a store. the PS2 is surrounded by some custom boards, and framed inside a metal box (meant to go inside an arcade cabinet). it looks ridiculously funny.
the Konami Python 2 will always be the peak of mid-2000s arcadejank to me
imagine being an arcade tech back then, and you finally receive the kit to upgrade your cab from DDR SuperNOVA to SuperNOVA 2, so you open the case to get at the disc drive, and you're met face-to-face with this:

A fabricated statement from Nintendo of America's Twitter account addressing a fictitious scenario in which the Earth's oxygen supply is presumed to be depleting at a rapid pace, leaving humanity with mere days to live.
"This is Miyamoto. On behalf of everyone who is employed at Nintendo Co. LTD and its subsidiaries, we deeply mourn the countless human lives which will be lost due to the depletion of the global oxygen supply. To anyone who has ever played one of our games, we are eternally grateful to have created long-lasting fun and memories for you. To ease the suffering of families and children across the world, the Mario Kart World game for the Nintendo Switch 2 system will be available as a free download on Nintendo eShop for the foreseeable future. We hope this small gesture of kindness will ease the pain as humanity prepares for a worst-case scenario."
The statement is distastefully plastered with logos for Nintendo and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as with a render of Mario from Mario Kart World.
A fabricated Twitter thread responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.
John Default Profile Picture: "No one read this statement and thought it was distasteful? Why did Miyamoto think this would help anyone?"
NintenDeen: "Simple: Nintendo is so depraved that they'd exploit a global crisis to boost the player count of the failed Mario Kart World and force consumers back into the Switch 2 ecosystem to boost sales and player numbers."
A fabricated Twitter thread responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.
PlayStation Nation: "What the fuck are you doing falsely advertising sales during these trying times? I went to the website and Mario Kart World is still selling for $80 USD."
Kremling Kevin: "If you actually read the statement, it clearly says the discount is available on Nintendo eShop. Meaning the application on the Switch 2 itself, not the web browser version."
PlayStation Nation: "Point still stands."
A fabricated Tweet responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.
Isaboner: "Nothing for Switch 1 owners?"
Had a dream that there was global panic about the world running out of oxygen, Nintendo was the only video game company to make a statement about it, and the internet collectively spent its final hours on Earth debating whether Nintendo was being genuine or not
