Weirdly, NJO was what finally convinced me I didnβt need to be a Star Wars novels completionist. I read several of them and basically hated the entire storyline so much that I gave away the ones I had purchased.

Iβm invested in the characters but itβs definitely not what I would call a driving narrative.
Huh. The only thing on there we watch is SNL, and even that is only the cold open and Weekend Update via YouTube. Kind of a fascinating slice of reality.
I have not. I started The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt on March 1st and between it being very long and my dog having emergency spinal surgery nine days ago, Iβm only about halfway through.
I was on it obsessively when I was laid off for the second time in 16 months. Once I landed a new job I happily turned off notifications and just check in occasionally when Iβm bored. Itβs been so liberating.
Itβs hard and much more physically demanding than I ever realized, I havenβt gotten much sleep, and my anxiety is through the roof. But we love our little bean so much. (Heβs my PFP.)
Our younger rescue dog ruptured a disc and lost the use of his back legs sometimes between 8 pm last Monday and 1 am last Tuesday. He made it through surgery and is back home, and now we are dealing with new care routines and doing what we can to give him the best chance for full recovery.
Oh, βA Long Way to a Small, Angry Planetβ was good! I havenβt tackled the subsequent books yet.
A medium-sized black dog looks past the camera with a very glazed expression while a hand pets him on the chest.
This is Nox. Nox ruptured a disc in his back and had to have surgery on Tuesday. Still canβt feel his back legs, but that could change. Need all the good thoughts for a successful recovery for our sweet beloved boy. #dogs #DogsOfBlueSky
I see entirely too many in San Diego.
Flew Wednesday and this morning domestically. Thankfully no issues but I have another trip in mid-March and weβll see how it goesβ¦
Oooh, this made me think.
LM Montgomery
Agatha Christie
Patricia Cornwell
Beverly Cleary
Iris Johansen
Madeleine LβEngle
Deborah Harkness
Mary Higgins Clark
Marissa Meyer
Suzanne Collins
Meg Cabot
Laura Ingalls Wilder
Probably others that I am forgettingβ¦
I had a set of Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph pens for art class in high school and I absolutely adored them. No idea what happened to them.
I think it also makes a difference which GS bakery they are coming from. Last year the SoCal GS council switched bakeries, and it turns out I like the previous one a LOT better.
The Lemonades are excellent.
Some I rememberβ¦
Johnny Tremaine
Jane Eyre
Flowers for Algernon
A Separate Peace
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
Of Mice and Men
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Catcher in the Rye
A Tale of Two Cities
The Great Gatsby
Plus some Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Sophoclesβ¦
We have one in the garage to turn on lights. Looking at alternatives due to evil Bezos.
Looking forward to this for my (hopefully not too rainy) afternoon commute!
Oh good, not just me then.
A medium sized black dog lies atop a brown comforter and gazes somberly at the camera.
My sweet cozy baby Nox. #DogsOfBluesky #DogSky
People that can just go to restaurants willy nilly without a thorough pre-review of the menu and an idea of something they are willing to order amaze me.
During the early COVID days my husband and I got hooked on the 3DBotMaker YouTube channel and got super invested in Hot Wheels cars racing down elaborate tracks. Excellent production values, a sense of humor, and youβd swear someone is actually driving sometimes.
The San Diego Zoo cams are also a good optionβ¦
Iβve never had any real interest in reading Britneyβs book and Iβm not an audiobook listener but this description alone may change that.
It was a comparative example. If given a binary choice between two current Democratic white male governors that have gained national attention, I prefer Pritzker to Newsom. But realistically there will likely be others in the Dem primary that I favor over either one.
We need more Muppets in the world.
The urge to rear end would be strong.
As a California resident who actually voted for the guy multiple times for governorβ¦I wonβt be supporting him in a Dem primary. If he wins the nomination I will vote for him because Iβm a realist but I wonβt be happy about it. If it has to be a white dude gov I prefer my native stateβs Pritzker.
It absolutely had that old-school Muppet vibe even if Iβm still not quite down with Kermitβs current voice.
The world needs more Muppets.
