It's that time of year when Triffids start springing up, so please carry your anti-triffid gun at all times.
Someone clever did this to a lamppost on Coverdale road and now I am disappointed that every lamppost doesnβt have one
Went to bed in a Beastie Boys T-Shirt but found myself waking up before I get to sleep cos I be rocking this party eight days a week...
"Oi, basket-face" was a well-known jocular greeting amongst the townfolk. Maybe.
One of our D&T teachers managed to pour the molten metal destined for the sand casting at his feet into the wide turn-up of his bell-bottom jeans. The turn-up neatly seperated from the trouser leg and fell to the floor. We laughed.
It's a pie chart done in red, orange and yellow, with the title: "What Led Zeppelin Songs are about", and the color coding of sex (red) shows it to be about 40%, "vikings or hobbits or some shit" (orange) to be 59%, and "citrus" (yellow) to be about 1%.
To be fair, the citrus ones are also about sex and/or hobbits.
A US Park Ranger posting the new regulations for delicious visitors
Due to the layoffs I am afraid that we have had to take over the running of the US National Parks.
We are updating the park regulations but for now the most important thing people can do before visiting a national park is to marinade themselves for 12 hours in olive oil, lime juice & garlic.
Kidβs drawing of Cyclops(?) with red laser beams shooting out of his eyes (I know theyβre technically not laser beams; leave me alone, nerds!). βRoses are red. Violets are red. Everything is REDβ
Happy Valentineβs Day!
A Barn Owl and itβs skeleton β We can see that owl feathers cover much of the owl legs length. Figure 1: Habitus and skeleton of an adult barn owl (Tyto alba pratincola) https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Anatomical%2C-morphometrical-and-biomechanical-of-and-Bachmann-Wagner/ef7c44e1fdf4363fa091f103c3b472f5590ab6e6/figure/0
Owls tend to "hunker" on branches with feather-covered legs bent at the reversed "knee", giving the impression of a 'short' animal.
They do this to maintain their "quick launch" capability, using thigh & leg muscles to propel into the air where wings can provide more lift and rapid ascent/descent.
Love this, just posted the link to her article on my running club's chat, really important piece
Handily, you can drive it virtually (and cut out the walking to and fro) with this - www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RUF...
Erskine Returning at Dawn, oil on canvas, 1950: a tabby cat walking in a field with trees in the background, crescent moon, muted blue sky and grey clouds
The steward told us that at the launch party for the Ravilious family, there was one lady reluctant to leave at the end, transfixed by this painting of a cat. Eventually she explained: 'This used to hang above my bed when I was a child. It rather scared me!'
A collection of farm toys on a mount.
why does this look like the behind the scenes of the trolley problem
John Prescottβs coffin has arrived at Hull Minster for his funeral. Appropriately, the hearse was a Jag, as is the familyβs car.
A knowing wink you suspect. Two Jags to the end.
#orienteering at Hadleigh Castle Park yesterday, courtesy of HAVOC - Green course in 70 mins felt like hard fun, very hilly and windy. #running
We survived!!!
Hatch
For anyone about to refer to the storm, this is the old style of cargo ship hatch for which battens are required to secure it for sea (regardless of storms). Battens secure the canvas over the hatchboards and are themselves held in place by wedges hammered in behind the cleats.

Who will rid me of this -
Musk promising to have the trains run on time...
Two seagulls walking. Oneβs beak is stuck through a slice of bread.
"What happened?"
"Iβm stuck. It's so embarrassing."
βI guess things went... a-rye?β
βPlease do shut up.β
"You should get out of the sun."
"Why?"
"Otherwise, you'll be toast."
"You're an asshole, Charlie."
βYouβre right, you deserve butter.β
βThe road will be hard and longβ¦β
βVery well my liegeβ

βYep, weβre all goodβ
"Yeah, we used to work in factories assembling cars; but now humans do all the repetive tasks and we get to go jogging a lot..."
The Evolution of Desire
Might well be the same way as the owners will! Or at least from behind their collective sofa with all fingers crossed...
Been trying out the air fryer with them for the same reason, and similar results. Sod Ai, this is modern technology problem solving I can get behind.
Online headline from The Trek that reads β5 Things To Do After Falling Down a Mountainβ with a picture from the side of one mountain looking over a valley and towards a ridgeline in the background
