Been sitting on this news for a while! There's going to be a Children of Time TTRPG courtesy of the amazing folk at Rowan Rook and Decard (Heart, Spire, DIE, Eat the Reich and many more).

just from an analytical/literary pov I don't think there's ever been a time when people posting on sm were cross-referencing other services as frequently.

All of which to say: making this game has been a dream for the best part of a decade, but don't worry – I'll be making my weird queer cyberpunk games and existential nightmares too ^^

(BUT you should be excited for Children of Time too! Trying out some *big* swings with this one)

And so it's wild to see a (very small) amount of people assuming this means RRD is selling out and going all licensed games, all the time lmao

When instead it's two creators who like each other's work excited to actually make something together! And, sure, the name recognition is good too

Announcing you're making a licensed game is very... interesting in how people react to it tbh. Like: the Children of Time books are a big inspiration to me, I sold a copy of Legacy to Adrian at my very first con I exhibited it at by saying 'you could tell Children of Time with this'

It's big-picture sci-fi going deep into speculative fiction, with rules designed to empower play groups to make *juicy* stories about evolution and adaptation and entropy. it's got spaceships, deep time, multi-generation storytelling and so many other exciting things. Really happy to be making it!

gods yes this is an important thread. This goes both ways for me – as a layout artist I love getting work that gives me room to breathe, and lets me find my own solutions. and as an art director I love giving my artists their own space to *collaborate* with me instead of simply reproducing my ideas.

Reposted this yesterday but: as a worked example: a crowdfunder I'm following got backed yesterday by a friend with a LOT more followers than me and as a result its funding has almost tripled over the span of a day. So, uh, another tip: find people folks listen to, and make friends with them.

legit i think the most successful i have been at selling a ttrpg was when a random post about one of mine got a bunch of reblogs on tumblr. if you like something made by an independent creator (not even just ttrpgs! podcasts, webcomics, videos, whatever) you gotta be loud and annoying about it
