I am going to be giving an informal talk about my research into island connections & return migration in early March, discussing the idea of the diaspora as extended community and the realities of return. All welcome.

Hey! Scholars! If you're using someone's work in your class, sometimes it's nice to email them and tell them, because then they might feel good about their research instead of entirely crushed by the academic humanities' ongoing descent into the grave
This #childrensmentalhealthweek @smqpsych.bsky.social has co-written an article for Countryside Jobs Service on the importance of noticing nature and how families, educators and policy makers can encourage play and exploration in natural spaces
π www.countryside-jobs.com/article/noti...
When did you last pause to really notice the world around you? π
Simple moments of engaging with nature are tools for supporting mental health and wellbeing, and research shows that giving children space to explore and play in nature encourages creativity, curiosity and a sense of calm.

I'm all stocked up on shiny things, now just need to get them in front of people:

It was refreshing to write this article designed to encourage reflection and spot signs of spring. This ties in nicely with #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek and making time for nature as a restorative space. @manchester.ac.uk @uomseed.bsky.social @uomhums.bsky.social

If you're interested in learning how to integrate school wellbeing into everyday practice, then take a read of this new emerging research from @manchester.ac.uk. #EduSky
Among the team of researchers were Dr Alexandra Hennessey and @smqpsych.bsky.social, who delivered a clear message across all six themes:
Supporting staff and pupil wellbeing isnβt an addβon. Itβs foundational to creating effective learning environments where everyone can thrive.
New research from @uomseed.bsky.social exploring how diverse UK schools implemented Well Schools identified six themes shaping what worked and why:
π Staff enrichment
πPupil enrichment
β¨ Motivation
π Capability
β Awareness & engagement
π Sustainability
π« A growing number of schools are turning to the Well Schools framework. A flexible, communityβdriven approach that helps schools build a culture where wellbeing is central to learning, development, and school life.
Wholeβschool approaches are among the most promising ways to support healthier and happier school communities.
When wellbeing is integrated into culture, it allows both pupils and staff to flourish.
βAccording to The Children's Society, childrenβs wellbeing is at a tenβyear low, and schools are feeling the impact.
National and international data show rising concerns around young peopleβs mental and physical health, and the education sector is increasingly being asked to respond.
