There's plenty of resources online to learn Machine learning, start with one and do it well (almost all of them are as good as others) and then start getting your hands dirty. Don't wait for the perfect plan. If you wanna know about research; I wrote my opinion in my blogs on how to get started!
If you're working in AI, just know everyone feels lost and anxious; and I'm sad that we've put the AI in anxiety. If you need to talk to someone, I'm here and so are a lot of people! Know that nothing's as important as your health!
