The longer operation Epstein Fury drags on, the more dirty oil and gas money pours into the Kremlin's coffers.
Trump's idiotic war of aggression against Iran helps fund Putin's genocidal war of aggression against Ukraine.
These bloody autocrats must go!
kyivindependent.com/us-allows-in...
We don't know how much longer Trump's operation Epstein Fury will last, but we do know that Europe will pay the price, Ukraine possibly more than most.
If European democracies haven't got the message yet, surely they must now. We need strategic autonomy.

Epstein Fury!
"Ukrainian membership will make the EU a much more powerful player in global affairs ... Bringing Ukraine into the EU β and bringing Britain back against the odds β would be proof positive that the [EU] is learning to defend itself and live on into the 21st century with purpose and confidence."

So long as the national veto, concensus voting, is retained for foreign and security policy, the EU will never be able to properly defend its interests or values.
@vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu is right that the millstone of consensus voting must be taken from around the EU's neck.
Simon Tisdall makes excellent points in this article.
Nearly ten years ago the UK voted to leave the EU, but we should have been seeking independence from the US instead.
We must do so now, and reuniting with our democratic European allies will be key to it.

New Electoral Commission stats today reveal the reportable donations in Q4 2025:

π£ Reform UK: Β£5,456,000
Greens are bringing in barely 3.5% of Reform UK's large donations - but still polling around 20%.
The dictator Putin sees a blackmail opportunity in the gas crisis Trump has created with his war on Iran.
The EU must stand firm, and stick with the plan to end Russian gas imports.
Europe must end dependence on fossil fuels - especially gas - for energy.
Our future security depends on it!
Letter to the editor: The four-year war led by Vladimir Putin will end when Moscow realises it cannot win.
Europe has the means.
Does it have the will?

"Iran has had coherent opposition movements over the decades that have managed to create nationwide movements and strikes. Almost all of them have been systematically destroyed: people arrested; people killed; people exiled."

Indeed, if you search "Gerash" in Bluesky, it's mostly reports of earthquakes of about magnitude 4.0 - 4.5.
So, when the democracy of Ukraine faces full-scale invasion by the ruthless Russian dictatorship, the cupboard is bare.
But for an illegal war of aggression in support of a genocidal thug, weapons stocks are "virtually unlimited".
We see you Trump, we see you.

Just more evidence that the UKs βfirst past the postβ voting system does not reflect the diversity of our politics. Time for a change
As the Middle East plunges into chaos, don't forget the people of Ukraine who hold the line for democracy in Europe.
Last week's rally marking the 4th anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine reminded us why they resist, and at what cost.

Imagine if just 25% of US air defence & missiles being used against Iran was instead provided to Ukraine to help defend democracy against Russian missiles and Iranian drones where it really counts.
Never believe the Trump regime when they say helping Ukraine costs too much!

The futility of these policies (if theyβre meant to attract βhero votersβ) was known prior to Gorton; the result just reinforced the point. Being nasty & electorally ineffective is quite a trick but it makes you wonder if some are doing this out of genuine belief. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
What an utterly disgusting and dangerous front page from the Mail today. Surely by now everyone can see that Reform is a party that thrives on division, fuels anger, and uses the scapegoating of minorities and migrants to gain support. Everyone it seems except the Mail
"Trying to compete with Reform not only feels inauthentic... but a betrayal of what Labour is supposed to represent. We must address the concerns and fears of voters, not play on them."
Damning stuff from Sadiq Khan

Having the energy to attack Iran because "it's dangerous and totalitarian" but not keeping that energy to attack Russia, which is dangerous at a global scale, totalitarian, planning to invade Europe, and threatening to launch nuclear weapons every two weeks, doesn't really seem coherent.
OCASIO-CORTEZ STATEMENT ON TRUMP'S COMBAT OPERATIONS IN IRAN "The American people are once again dragged into a war they did not want by a president who does not care about the long-term consequences of his actions. This war is unlawful. It is unnecessary. And it will be catastrophic. "Just this week, Iran and the United States were negotiating key measures that could have staved off war. The President walked away from these discussions and chose war instead.President Trump flippantly acknowledged the possibility of American casualties, stating "that often happens in war.' "Mr. President: this was not an inevitability. This is a deliberate choice of aggression when diplomacy and security were within reach. Stop lying to the American people. "Violence begets violence. We learned this lesson in Iraq. We learned this lesson in Afghanistan. And we are about to learn it again in Iran. Bombs have yet to create enduring democracies in the region and this will be no different. "In moments of war, our Constitution is unambiguous: Congress authorizes war. The President does not. I will do my part to uphold our Constitution by voting YES on Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie's War Powers Resolution. Every member of Congress must join us in rejecting this aimless war.
My statement on President Trumpβs combat operations in Iranβ¬οΈ
The ridiculous extension of the wait for settled status isn't about putting up barriers to arrival, it's about putting up barriers to integration for people who have already been here for years. It's agreeing with Farage that these people should be treated with suspicion - and leaving it at that.
Really good news to wake up to.
Yesterday the politics of hate and division, the politics of Reform UK, lost in Gorton and Denton.
We really need hope in politics, to work with our neighbours in defence of our shared values for a better future.
"We are not a strain on this country. We are not a threat. We are not strangers. We are your nurses, carers, neighbours, teachers, business owners, researchers and friends. Weβve made this place our home ... all weβve ever asked for is the right to belong."
