I literally thought of this video the other day cause an Alt-J song popped up in a playlist I was listening to, haha

I feel like Sufjan Stevens engages in a dialogue with his faith and truly uses it to question and inform himself about the nature of life and the universe, which is kinda the whole point of faith.

I can appreciate faith, but reject dogmatic adherence to organized religion

I struggle sometimes to not reflexively crash out when hearing christian themes cause of the abuse i suffered at the hands of dogmatism.

But i have to remind myself that any religion can be weaponized and that there are good Christians out there.

I've been harmed by Christianity so much i.e: conversion "therapy"

But i also still love the way Sufjan Stevens wrestles with faith/religion in a more heartfelt and personal way.

I struggle to even think what a cutesy portrayal of BPD or Bipolar diagnoses would even be like.

But perhaps if they did exist they could help me feel just as seen as cutesy portrayals of ASD and ADHD.

Really empathize with your feelings here 🫂

Both Borderline and Bipolar carry so much stigma that I've had a hard time coping with them. Knowing that upon even hearing those diagnoses that some people would write me off entirely as: unstable, erratic, criminal, dangerous, abusive, inherently evil, or insane.

And now that i have two highly stigmatized diagnoses, bipolar and Borderline, I kinda wince at cutesy portrayals of Neurodivergence.

Some therapists and Psychs even refuse to work with people with Borderline! And its effect on my life is NOT cute! They're debilitating and unbearable at times.

As a person with a whole lot of letters in her alphabet soup (ASD, ADHD, Bipolar 2, and BPD), i feel so conflicted about cutesy portrayals of Neurodiversities.

When all i thought I had was ASD and ADHD, cutesy portrayals made me feel seen.

Reminds me of a moment earlier in my transition where I went to a dressing room, and the attendant said, "ummmm, men's? Uhhhh, women's? Uhh, i don't know!?"

And after I said women's they instantly relaxed, haha.

Done yearly themes as a regular practice since 2017, and they've always helped guide me and give me renewed purpose in life.

And! I've even changed my theme mid-year, there's no rules or hard goals with yearly themes. So sometimes done quarterly themes, and sometimes skipped months/years on purpose
