The truth is not the average of a fact and a lie.

I mean, engineers really just want to use standards when it comes to the boring stuff. So, Kelvin for everything and then convert to user-locale in the UI. Minimize conversion errors where you can.

Cover of About Face, by Colonel David H. Hackworth and Julie Sherman

A friend, retiring this year from the Air Force, recommended Hackworth’s About Face to me and I’m about 60% through it. And, while Kelly and Hack had very different careers, I can’t help but see similarities in how their vocal opposition to the establishment’s excesses.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

At least we don’t live in a world of staggering class disparity in which a tech magnate attempts to quash left-wing sentiment using sexualized artificial intelligence!

Heβ€˜a missing misogyny as a key driver in both 2016 and 2024. And the idea of, β€œit’s ok to go after the bad ones.”

That’s not a dig or a point scored or anything. It’s what the (Hispanic, Texas) People I’ve talked to were telling me at the time. So, I guess, take it with a grain of salt.

To be fair, high beta orbit effects on power gen were also due to operational constraints re: potential thermal issues. So, not just drag.

17.12.2025 14:50 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

it’s an issue way 100x higher than that: ISS flies at ~400km and regularly has to reboost due to drag couple of times per year or it will fall out of the sky.

Power gen at high beta orbits (again, couple of times per year) is *significantly* reduced because of drag.

Like, it’s a huge deal.
