A pillar of stone atop a moss covered mound, the stone is deeply grooved with ogham script.

Located next to a small holy well, not far from Kilmovee in County Mayo, this ogham stone may be one of the earliest recorded in Ireland based on its inscription.

When translated, it reads:

ALATTOS MAQI BR[--.
