Crocodiles found 'galloping' over roads, lurking near homes amid NT floods Crocodiles have been spotted lurking in floodwaters across the Top End, with NT Police incident controller Shaun Gill warning the reptiles are "absolutely everywhere" right now.

Record wet season. Crocodiles everywhere.

Motorcycle hazard.

I rode that bike from Sydney to Alice Springs in 48hrs to visit a girl I was keen on over Easter.

She said if I was really interested in spend more time with her I should have caught a plane.

27 years later - she rolled her eyes again when I bought the V7.

Time flies. That photo is about 27 years old. It’s a bit of a project now to get it back on the road.

Gowanloch’s in Sydney mildly modified it for me in the mid 90’s. 40mm Dellortos. 780cc kit with a little more compression. Ported with slightly hotter cams. The induction roar was tremendous.

Salt pans in the distance.

Light brown exhaust meant the carburation was correct for the air/oil cooled engine at prolonged high speeds.

The additives in the fuel then
caused the colour apparently. Don’t see it now.

50 to 80 in built up areas like anywhere else.

100 out in the country.

110 on well engineered multi-lane divided expressways and some very remote areas.

NT didn’t have speed limits because it’s the NT. The road fatality rate is three higher than the rest of Australia.

Yes 130km/hr in the Northern Territory since about 2007.

The rest of Australia always had a max speed limit of 100-110.

BMW motocycle by the side of an open road. No speed limit sign.

Bike touring across the country in the late 90’s.

That road sign is rare now but it means that there is no official speed limit. Ride to the conditions.

130km/hr on the BMW twin was the sweet spot with petrol stations up to 300km apart and kangaroos and emus about.

They are relatively solid now. It’s just a 15 year old bike that has lived in the tropics its whole life.

Failing regulator/rectifier is a know issue on this model though.

This entitled white man born into wealth messed with the measles vaccination program in Samoa in 2019.

Over 60 infants died as a result.

Now he is head of HHS with yet more blood on his hands.

No consequences for these men. It’s criminal.

V twins are intrinsically more balanced than the parallel twins on the market.

Parallel twins are cheap to mass produce, easy to install and only need one set of cam shafts….but I think they are generic and soulless.

Where does the turbine exhaust go on the Saturn V F1 engine? Diagrams and descriptions of the F1 engine as used on the Saturn V booster identify a turbine exhaust manifold which leads down from the fuel turbopump and wraps around the main nozzle. As it winds

If you really want to nerd out about it. It was actually the exhaust from the turbine that just ran the fuel pumps, that were directed to cool the nozzles.

A fuel pump needed to generated 55 000 bhp on its own to supply the oxygen/kerosene fast enough.

Classic Two Wheels The best from Two Wheels magazine

Two Wheels was a popular Australian motorcycle magazine from the 1960’s through to the early 2000’s.

Many of their original bike reviews have been digitised.

It’s a brilliant historic resource.

Highly recommend the site.

After decades of decline, why are road fatalities on rise in Australia and around the world? - ABC Religion & Ethics More than 90 per cent of road accidents happen due to human error, and not all errors can be prevented through policy and policing. Simple, everyday actions can make a significant difference.

Education, policing, safer roads and cars have reduced road mortality but it’s now stalled and increasingly again. (Distraction, SUV’s, COVID brain fog?)

Less cars - more public transport and safer bicycling must be part of the solution.
