π£ Your daily reminder: Tell your Senators NO MORE TAX DOLLARS FOR ICE & CBP. Help us keep up the pressure.
It only takes 2 minutes to send messages directly to your Senators:

π¨URGENT: The House will vote as soon as TOMORROW on increasing funding for ICE & CBP.
More funding with no accountability is essentially an invitation for these agencies to keep violating our rights.
We have to stop this. Tell your reps to vote NO on more funding: act.nilc.org/page/93101/a...
ICEβs violent escalation in Minneapolis is a terrifying reminder of how important it is to fight for those whose rights are under attack β both in our communities and behind bars. We mourn the preventable killing of Renee Nicole Good and demand that Congress stop funding ICE now.

As Idaho reckons with revelations of widespread sexual abuse by womenβs prison staff, the Trump administration has cut off support meant to help states combat that kind of abuse. By @wbryen.bsky.social - www.investigatewest.org/idahos-effor...
The House just passed the Kayla Hamilton Act β a bill that would subject undocumented kids as young as 12 to invasive bodily searches and increase and prolong their detention, putting them at heightened risk for sexual abuse. We urge the Senate to reject this bill and protect the safety of children.
The Department of Justice has released data revealing the amount of sexual victimization in prisons and local jails in the U.S.
βWhen you give an incomplete picture, it just makes it impossible to do that next step to do the work of ensuring that correctional practices are as they should be and advance the safety of incarcerated folks.β JDI's deputy executive director on the problems with the recent BJS data releaseπ
"It's going to make people less safe. And when facilities are less safe for the most vulnerable and marginalized, they're less safe for everybody."

Today is #TransgenderDayofRemembrance. Incarcerated transgender people are disproportionately impacted by sexual abuse in detention and face challenges accessing the care they need and deserve. Today and every day we stand with trans people behind bars.

We applaud the courage of the survivors who are speaking out about the horrifying torture and abuse they endured at CECOT. We must fight to end the administration's dangerous ramp up of immigration detention and deportation that puts people at risk for sexual abuse.

Thank you!
Just a reminder that dressing as a "prisoner" for Halloween isn't funny! There are nearly 2 million people incarcerated in the United States. Mass incarceration is a human rights crisis. It is not a costume.
Love this! Thank you for writing cards for incarcerated people!
Had written holiday cards, markers, and reading glasses scattered on a green tablecloth.
Sending off my holiday cards for @justdetention.bsky.social Words of Hope campaign. I love doing this every year!!! Itβs really such an easy way to help our incarcerated people.
Sexual humiliation of people in custody is a common way to silence dissent. www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/a/25...
In summer 2024, 7 women accused Idaho prison workers of sexual misconduct. The allegations spanned decades, took place at various facilities and involved different perpetrators. One thread connects the claims: none were thoroughly investigated by state police. www.investigatewest.org/case-closed-...
Your periodic reminder that no matter what crime a person may have committed, rape is never part of the penalty.
Trans people in prison are at the front lines of the increased targeting that trans people are facing under Trump.
π¨ Together, NCYL and @acaciajustice.bsky.social released companion reports exposing recent ORR policy changes preventing unaccompanied childrenβs release from custody and highlighting the devastating consequences of these childrenβs prolonged custody.
