The library stands on the lip of the precipice gouged out by the landslide, with part of the building in effect hanging in mid-air. Now we get to the real reason the tapestry being loaned: β€˜The Bayeux Museum is scheduled to close at the end of August for a €38m (Β£33m) renovation which would have necessitated the moving of the tapestry regardless of any deal with Britain’. But still, I’ll look forward to seeing it!
