NYT takes a look at 17 Iranian strikes on US military installations across the Gulf area which appear to have been staged with intelligence furnished by the Kremlin. It fails to identify Americans killed or injured in these Russian-sponsored attacks.
This report makes a compelling case: that cutting carbon emissions makes sense for our economy, as well as for the safety of our climate.

Nigel Farage: "Reform are strong in all of the polls except @YouGov. They are using bizarre adjustments to suppress the true figures. No wonder their share price has fallen by over 80 percent in recent years!"
Judging a pollster by its share price is nonsense.
But what is interesting is Farage's attitude that he's fine to throw the YouGov founder turned Reform member Nadhim Zahawi under the bus like this.
“While Nige has been brown-nosing Trump with his warmongering, he’s missed that most of the country doesn’t want to follow the orange narcissist into an illegal war with no fixed objectives other than continue till The Donald gets bored”

In the run-up to his war, Trump ignored warnings that Iran could retaliate across the region and stop oil shipments, the NYT reports.
He downplayed risks as a short-term concern that shouldn’t overshadow the mission to decapitate the regime.
Now the energy markets are in chaos.
It's no longer OK for you to sit in the house of Lords because your dad did.
But if your mate put you there?
That's fine.
Neither of these really feel like democracy to me.
I'm seriously trying to figure what it would take to convince Republicans to say ENOUGH of this fool and help get him impeached or 25ed.
The next EU law on legal migration - just needs formal sign off by Member States ministers
Big shift from the Commission on nuclear today. Bxl has traditionally been very sceptikal on nuclear energy, if not radically opposed, and promoting only renewables. Today VdL has put both nuclear and renewables on the same footing. Saying the EU needs both.
Trump & US military showing just how dumb they really are.
Looking back at planning horizon for this war, it implies just a few months after dismissing 🇺🇦's anti-drone technology, Trump and Hegseth were starting to plan attacks against 🇮🇷 ...
a country that had major stockpiles of Shahed drones 🙃
"It is time to give scientists the stability they deserve. Cut the cost of visas. Retain shorter routes to settlement. Ensure that those who come here to contribute feel welcome. If we do this, the UK can become the best place in the world for science." Samra Turajlic, Observer.
note that it's the right-wing parties, who have complained that UK should have joined US strikes on Iran, who are now also demanding the Labour government steps up household help with energy bills
“Never once did Reform promise to cut council tax” insists an angry Nigel Farage to Sky News.
Here's some of the leaflets Reform have been putting out ahead of the local elections

Well done Labour!
The landmark Tobacco & Vapes Bill passed its 3rd reading in the Lords last night.
I believe it only has government approved amendments, which means the Bill just needs final approval by the Commons before going to Royal Assent!
The bill marks a major shift in public health.

Since I'm in a mildly contrarian mood I'd throw in that Middle East wars are not in my view the biggest risk to global stability. The situation is bad, but risks have been discussed long enough for it not to be a surprise
Every projection of global economic growth assumes a stable and united China.
That Trump repeats calls for Iran's unconditional surrender on same day he's got the defence industrial chiefs round for an emergency meeting on military supplies perfectly sums up his grasp of ends & means.
"By toppling Saddam Hussein in 2003, the US created an opening for Iran's Revolutionary Guards to expand across the Middle East, to build an axis of mostly Shiite Muslim militias." (New York Times) America's meddling in the Middle East is all about unintended consequences.
Bellingcat has geolocated the video, it shows a building close to the Manib school, in the same compound, being hit by a US Tomahawk missile, one of several strikes on the compound

The footage appears to contradict President Donald Trump’s claim it was an Iranian missile that hit the school on Feb. 28. www.wsj.com/livecoverage...
New video footage shows a US Tomahawk missile hitting an IRGC facility in Minab, Iran, on Feb 28, showing for the first time that the US struck the area. The footage also shows smoke already rising from the vicinity of the girls’ school, where 175 people were reportedly killed, including children.

Nobody should vote for anyone who sucks up to Trump, the oaf who insulted the British troops who gave their lives or were seriously injured on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan, by implying that they were held back from the fighting. I'm referring to Nigel Farage.

“The job of the British PM is to take decisions in the national interest of the U.K., not in the interests of other countries… we don’t outsource foreign policy to other countries”.
