Coming soon
I sat down with @jeremysmith.co
for what I thought would be 90 minutes.
Four hours later, we were still talking.
We talked about building products no one's buying, choosing family over money, and what it means to be a "nurturer" in tech.

It started with RubyCentral & RubyGems. Now rails foundation & Rails. I think we are asking the wrong question or standing by the wrong side.
If we all stop contribute to OSS, what does that code & our work demand from us? Live!

Who really owns Rubygems?
YouTube video by The Expert Bench
This might be the most important 3 min in Rubygems's recent history.
@greg.molnar.io just explained why the Ruby Central/Gems drama isn't really about drama at all. It's about a question nobody can answer:
Who owns open source?

Had an issue building 2FA with Rails ActiveRecord encryption. For some reason it worked well in dev, staging & not in prod.
I blame docker :)
Now it works, every Rails Expert can enable 2FA using their favourite auth app and it would create 10 backup codes π₯³

The $275,000 job that broke Adam Wathan
Picture this: You're Adam Wathan. You created Tailwind CSS. Your bank account is healthy. Your reputation? Stellar. You're offering $275,000 salaries. Remote work. The kind of job posting that should ...
Last year
@adamwathan
spent 133 hours reading 1,600 job applications.
Hired from those applications: 0
The two people he hired? Never even applied.
This isn't a hiring failure. It's proof the entire system is dead.

Dear developers: That job application you spent 4 hours perfecting?
You're probably application #847 in someone's inbox.
Adam's hiring disaster proves what we've suspected all along:
The best developers aren't getting hired through applications.
Here's why:

Every founder thinks they're bad at hiring.
Then you hear @adamwathan.com spent 2 months of full-time work reviewing applications...
And hired zero of them.
Maybe you're not bad at hiring. Maybe the system is broken.
What he discovered will change how you hire.

What made Tailwind successful wasn't just utilities, it was making the invisible visible. Tailwind made spacing, colours, and sizes explicit in HTML.
