#JanuaryWorldbuilding The biggest thing I want to work on this year is the smaller portions of my world. This exercise has actually been fantastic, because it’s making me think about things I haven’t worked on yet. Broader parts of the world, different facets of the economy, so much to choose from!

However some of those aberrations were created and released, wreaking havoc upon the land. The Relic Holders prepared their forces well, and over a long period, defended their homes. The threat is not gone completely but disaster was averted and the world began rebuilding. 🧵 (2/2)

#JanuaryWorldbuilders The last great historical event in my world was The Cataclysm. A great evil sought to shatter the power stored beneath The Opal Basin, transforming all life on Valhendra into a crystalline army for this evil to command. The last Relic Holders stopped this transformation 🧵 (1/2)

#JanuaryWorldbuilders The might of Veyndral partnered with the keen artificer minds from Vornheim to build an automaton force to help bolster their troops. Large mechanicals were sent to help the front lines when the cataclysm hit, and other machines were built for long range at multiple targets.

#JanuaryWorldbuilders The squads are arranged based on the fronts they defend, most of which are stationed within Veyndral’s region. The groups are then split into effectively Ranging squads and Defense squads, and split further across all of the regions on the continent.

#JanuaryWorldbuilders The military goes through training for combat against various opponents, including aberrations of the Cataclysm, but within The Bastion are several physical and mental trials that foster discipline, teamwork, and mental fortitude.

#JanuaryWorldbuilders One of the most notable leaders within Veyndral was Serenna Wardedge, she was the last member of one of the great houses, and the relic holder who fought in the final battle of the cataclysm. She created The Bastion, and one of my PC’s wears her relic!

#JanuaryWorldbuilders The military might of Valhendra is held within Veyndral’s vast Bastion. There are supply lines for all of their needs, and are well trained in survival skills in the event they need to forage off the land.

Once this war was “finished”, the people rebuilt. Reestablished order though council of representatives, rebuilt infrastructure and commerce, etc. There was not complete peace and prosperity however, the aftermath is what my players are dealing with right now, several hundred years later. 🧵 (2/2)

Evil rose from the earth, and corrupting energies spread across the land and mutated flora and fauna, the people of Valhendra needed to fight back to defend their homes. #JanuaryWorldbuilders The main qualification is training in the usage of weapons, whether you are part of the military forces, a paladin or cleric or a divine order, or a ranger within the woodland clans, there is always some kind of training that must take place. #JanuaryWorldbuilders most of my pc’s are casters or half-casters, but my Artificer is wielding an incredible hand-axe that does some fun things as she levels up. I am also making a custom luminous whip for my one PC playing a warlock!

#JanuaryWorldbuilders Mainly longbows, crossbows, slingshots, etc. however there are plenty of artificers, and a culture that encourages growth and science, so anything is possible! I may have hinted to one of my players she might be able to help fix the old sky ship technology lost to time 😎

#JanuaryWorldbuilders Armor can be made from just about anything in my world but most of my players wear either standard armor or just use protective spells!

The relics have taken shape of a locket that transforms to a mask, a compass, a pendant, and a pair of gauntlets. Each relic grows in power as the holders of the relics do, harnessing the natural uncorrupted energies of the world and the cosmic energy of the leylines in their own unique ways 🧵 (2/2)

#JanuaryWorldbuilders Since the creation of Valhendra, there have always been several Relics, bestowed upon those worthy to lead and protect the people of Valhendra. These relics vary in their forms, tailoring themselves to each new relic holder as they are chosen. For my current players, 🧵 (1/2)

#JanuaryWorldbuilders The villains the PC’s are currently fighting wield the corrupted power of the cataclysm, drawn from the depths of the earth and focused into amethyst, crystalline structures, constructs, and monsters. One villain imbues captives with crystals and then mind control the victims.

#JanuaryWorldbuilders All of my PC’s have a relic that enhances their innate abilities, but primarily gives them the ability to manipulate the energy from the leylines of Valhendra. The relics also do some fun things they don’t know about yet, but they will become incredibly powerful over time!

#JanuaryWorldbuilders In Palmaris, where the PC’s are currently, it’s a lot of street food! The region has a bustling market and heavy activity at the fishing docks, so food that is easy to grab and go is crucial. A specialty within Palmaris is Krakencrust Jerky, made with special herbs and spices!

#JanuaryWorldbuilders In the region of Palmaris where our players are currently adventuring, the clothing and general attire is made for the desert climate that surrounds the majority of the city, very light fabric in layers, brightly colored tunics and scarves, and boots made for desert traversal.

In the world is surging, and is being harnessed by parties and forces unknown (some are known for the players right now) for nefarious means OR are poisoning parts of the world OR plaguing parts of the world with corrupted beasts and monsters that are overwhelming the locals 🧵 (2/2)

#JanuaryWorldbuilders The biggest thing the players are facing is, now that the world is several hundred years post-cataclysm, something has awoken and new relic holders have been chosen (the players). In conjunction with this, the cataclysm energy that has been mostly dormant 🧵 (1/2)

#JanuaryWorldbuilders Gestures or actions that represent good etiquette revolve around gratitude. If someone offers or displays a kind gesture, it is returned in kind. The society spent a lot of time rebuilding after the cataclysm, and was done with partnership and gratitude among all people.

#JanuaryWorldbuilders Mainly within my world there are no true gender roles, the society is skill based, heavily focused in trade and (due to the cataclysm) abilities to defend the regions. There is a hierarchy within each major region, usually a council or a specific village elder.

Were the seat holders on the council within Valhendra, as they were the defenders of the continent and helped oversee order and wellbeing. The origin of the relics is yet-unknown to the players, but they bestow the player with great power, and when working together, have even more magic! 🧵 (2/2)
