PROTECTOR is ridiculous even by the standards of kidnapped daughter action movies, but Milla Jovovich is so good she still comes out looking pretty cool in the end.

And not everyone means it this way but I especially hate it when they're saying it's "more than a horror movie," as if after a certain level of quality or thoughtfulness it ceases being horror.

I'm still annoyed by "is SINNERS a horror movie?" discourse. Many horror movies are *about* something. Many horror movies take a while to reveal they're horror movies. Many horror movies also dip into other genres. It's about trying not to get bit by vampires. Of course it's a fucking horror movie.

I'm just saying I'm not ready to believe in the Academy giving it to a straight up horror movie. It felt possible after the SAG Awards, but I don't know.
