We are a nation of 349M, yet one man decided to launch our nation into a reckless, illegal war without congressional authorization or counsel or the support of the American people. He didn’t think he had any duty to sell it or serve the people’s interests. This is why despotic rule is so dangerous.
The crime is not just the killing of people who surrender. The crime is telling the enemy that if they surrender, they will be killed. Because when the enemy hears that they cannot surrender peaceably, the war changes from a strategic conflict to a blood-soaked deathmatch.
