/2 $ ask is only in 3rd email! I assume more ASKS may have followed- I reported & only then noticed a telltale sign in the seeming credible email address (I’d missed it). This is 1st time I’ve fallen for something like this. This is a level way up from what I’ve seen in the past & aimed 💯 at profs.
Phishing email caught me unawares. 3 rounds in (re: scheduling a thing), they asked me for money so, to save the rest of you some time: if a book club in North Carolina contacts you to feature your book, which is well-described in the email (thx ChatGPT! I guess), it’s SPAM. The ASK $ was for $72 /1

I lectured on this in Intro to Modern Culture and Media. Women were even called type-writers, early on. I pair His Girl Friday w/ California Typewriter (a doc on near-demise of the machine wh/ was just then retro-cool). ONE woman (poet) & several men are covered, all ardent devotees of the machine/2
