Congratulations Jess and Seb, hope baby is doing well
A great read Bill. Here in Australia many politicians also seem to think that sex is a simple binary thing that we biologists can readily define. Your numerous, well explained examples remind us how wrong headed that over-simplified conception of sex is.
I’m sorry we didn’t get a chance to have a good chat Henrico - thought your research looked fascinating.
Was a pleasure to be involved. Very gratified to see the conference in such good hands for the future with you and @freddyfrischknecht.bsky.social as stewards of a proud and formidable legacy.
Malaria colleagues, please do join in this online game of “Where’s Wally?” at BioMalPar, as well as the advanced version for we ageing members: “Where’s Wally’s growing bald patch?” #EMBLMalaria
No way, much too scared of Dominique to do that
Congratulations Sophie Collier on a fantastic presentation on organelle inheritance in malaria parasites at BioMalPar. Lovely lattice light sheet imaging with @niallgeoghegan.bsky.social #EMBLMalaria @events.embl.org @fad1.bsky.social
Go Long Huynh! Fancy cell biology and fancy microscopy on artemisinin resistance in Plasmodium parasites at the BioMalPar conference #EMBLMalaria @benliffner.bsky.social @sabsalon.bsky.social @events.embl.org
Very fortunate to have Abdoulaye Djimdé kicking off the BioMalPar XXI meeting @events.embl.org #EMBLMalaria
BioMalPar bound! Looking forward to meeting up with malaria folks soon in Heidelberg #EMBLMalaria

Is it only parasitologists that are happy to sit through a talk on maggots, then another on horseshit before an evening meal together? What other weirdos do this? Great to get together with the Melbourne folks @ Australian Society for Parasitology - thanks @lucashuggins.bsky.social for organising.
Congratulations @macleanlab.bsky.social
Applications now open for Churchill fellowships. Its a terrific scheme - particularly note the support for longer study travel by, for example, parasitologists and other biomedical scientists

Last day to submit an abstract for BioMalPar 2025, don’t miss out
As usual, some lovely microscopy from @benliffner.bsky.social, showing unprecedented detail of how Plasmodium sporozoites get made and how they work. #Lorneiandi @theviin.bsky.social
You just can’t be too careful
Please do come along to BioMalPar XXI - abstracts due on Feb 25th
Well done Long Huynh on a nice talk. Schmick presentation on artemisinin resistance in malaria parasites at the Lorne infection and immunity meeting. Beautiful imaging! @theviin.bsky.social #Lorneiandi
Excited about the upcoming immunology session at the Lorne Infection and Immunity meeting. Sometimes the air conditioning in the auditorium is quite strong so it pays to dress warmly @theviin.bsky.social
Lovely to have Katja Fischer @qimrb.bsky.social at the Lorne Infection and Immunity meeting - such important work on terribly neglected scabies #lorneiandi
Thanks for organising a terrific session Ben and Donna

I assumed that the thing on the right was your name plate?
Excellent post-breakfast inspiration at the Concepts in Parasitology course from Clare Anstead, talking about her first love, faeces.
Thanks @fad1.bsky.social for kicking off the 2024 Australian Society for Parasitology course Concepts in Parasitology on Minjerribah
