Just like Otto Hahn was credited for nuclear fission?

I’m not sure what the point of the Crisafulli government is.

β€œNorth of Canberra” being more than the length of the ACT away. Got two kids there who didn’t notice, but one of my granddaughters did and said some glass cabinets shook.

It’s Israel’s war on Iran. They co-opted the US through the useful idiot residing in the White House. I think the US political system needs a major reset - not just the piecemeal dismissal of single incompetents.

Sad really. Not sure what the members of the Queensland government are snorting. Banning phrases, canceling renewable energy projects and sending juveniles to jail. Just culture wars, nothing productive.

Is Trump on the stand?

The markets are crazy to instantly react to Trump’s latest utterances. Have they learnt nothing?

We have photos from around 1916 with pieces of furniture on it that are still in the family. Not this cot though.

And I love this one. That’s my dad on the left. Smoking cigars on the train in the Netherlands πŸ‡³πŸ‡±. Around 1955 I think.

Different style family photo, also around 1920. That’s my dad on the far left. The print was difficult to scan because of the amount of silver in it.

Ok I have to post a few too now. My grandparents on mum’s side. Never knew them, grandmother died when my mum was two, and grandfather in 1946 from a car accident. Got the tall genes from my grandmother.

Now feels like a good time to remember that Big Oil is the reason why we're still hooked on dirty, dangerous fossil fuels.

The industry's lies have essentially stolen a generation’s worth of time that we could have used to transition to cleaner, safer energy sources.

It’s time for accountability.

If there was ever a moment for Australia’s shift to renewables and EVs, this is it Yes, Australia needs fuel. But the Middle East war also shows the necessity of setting ourselves up for the future

The woeful energy security of Australia has been known for 15-20 years and successive governments have done little to address it. Taylor as energy minister β€œsecured” meaningless access to the US oil reserves. They now want answers on fuel supply? Hypocrites. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

A local independent servo here at the NSW south coast was selling diesel at over $3 yesterday. A response to hoarding by people outside the area and wanting to have a supply for locals? Or profiteering? His competitor down the road was selling for around $2.20.

Their complaint should not be considered until those Israelis indicted by the ICC present themselves to the court. You can’t have it both ways, ignoring international law when it’s inconvenient and appealing to it when it is.

So the stock markets rebounded and oil prices dropped after Trump said the war was sort of won? How deluded are the markets?

Always interesting to note that their all powerful and benign god is never responsible for some terrible event but is the saviour that come after it. Delusional. Not to speak about their belief in the rapture and even more their belief that they will be chosen for ascension.

Oh I’m positive it doesn’t. The US democracy needs ctrl-alt-del or power cycling. Piecemeal calls for Hegseth-Bondi-Patel-Kennedy-Miller to be fired are not going to make one iota of difference to the ongoing circus 🀑

I think it’s time to take our country back from politicians who do the bidding of powerful people in other countries, and have made us the servants of the US.
How do we go about firing Albanese, tearing up AUKUS and kicking every American servicemen out of the country and take the bases back?

Now think about an EV instead. The sun produces energy by fusing hydrogen atoms into helium. It travels 93 million miles in about eight minutes and 20 seconds (seven seconds more when our orbit takes us furthest away). Those photons then strike the silicon atoms in a photovoltaic panel, knocking loose electrons that produce a stream of direct current electricity; an inverter, now usually contained in the panel, converts that to AC power, which can be pumped directly into the battery of an EV where the motor uses electromagnetism to create a rotating magnetic field in a stator, which spins the inner rotor to propel the car. There are about 20 moving parts in the engine, and it is 80 to 90 percent efficient. There is no exhaust and almost no noise. That’s it. And if you poured those electrons into an e-bike instead of an EV, it’s even better: a penny’s worth of power is good for three miles or so. The same principles apply to electric buses, electric ferries, and so on.
