Prof. Paolo and PhD researcher Mahya Maarefvand presented the work on AI-based early warning systems for floods and agricultural droughts, developed through a University–Industry collaboration.

Roxana’s PhD explores how climate change influences soil organic carbon along a mountain-to-coast agro-anthropic transect within a river basin. Her work integrates spatial data analysis, field and laboratory research, and drone-based remote sensing. Previously, within our research group, she investigated agricultural areas along the Roman coast, and saltwater intrusion dynamics.

Today researchers from the EarthSurface group (TESAF Dept., University of Padua) met high school students at Villa Bolasco to introduce remote sensing, drone-based surveys, and real research applications hydrogeomorphology, and agronomy 🌱

We are part of EUROSION, a Horizon Europe project on soil erosion (Coordinated by Wageningen University). Earth Surface Research Group, led by P. Tarolli with G. Zuecco & V. D’Agostino, contributes to the Italian Monitoring Node, studying water-driven erosion like in vineyards in hilly areas.

The season for our evapotranspiration tower in Molinella (RO) has come to a close for the year.
Yesterday, a few of our group members collected the last bit of data and removed the instrumentation to be stored elsewhere over the winter.

Last week, some of our group members ventured into the corn fields of Molinella, Rovigo, to collect the first data from our evapotranspiration tower.
We hope that in the coming weeks and months, as we collect more data, we can use it to validate remote sensing datasets.
