Sen. Rick Scott in 2022: “The buck stops with one person. Joe Biden made your gas prices go up. He did it. He actually did it.”
Scott today, 14 months after Trump took over: "Unfortunately, [gasoline] prices are gonna be up for a while."
I am begging you as a parent, please do not ignore this. Just 5 dollars, combined with others, can become the treatment that saves my child. Your kindness can mean survival.

it’s easy to miss the 90s because we didn’t have arthritis or addictions yet. but a lot of people did. even though i was already getting sick for life and being treated like i chose to be difficult, I do miss that time right now. Kind of insane. But my siloed controlled life reeked of devastation
Deciding to watch one episode of the West Wing because it has muppets and I’m incredibly mad at everyone who works inside the beltway all over again.
He judged a movie based on what it was trying to do, not whether it was Lawrence of Arabia.
His review of Booty Call has always stuck with me, and was a perfect example of why he was great. “I’m astonished at some of the things I laugh at. But laugh I do.”

I sometimes worry that too many people think being a good critic means being a self-righteous dick about every little thing and I think far too many miss the point that you can't critique anything if you don't know how to love something.
It is a skill to know the difference between quality and your preferences, and it is a good skill to develop.
(I feel like this about Little Nicky, btw. That movie is hot garbage, but it appeals to my love of other people’s inside jokes.)
Also if you want an amazing representation of OCD — both in a character and thematically through the story — read this book
BREAKING: Former military lawyers say use of JAG lawyers in Minnesota violates the Posse Comitatus Act.
Although recent litigation has focused on troop deployments to American cities, a new challenge in Minnesota looks at DOJ's use of JAG lawyers in non-military cases.

I really hate the raw pet food evangelists.
A) dogs have evolved with humans and have evolved gut flora-wise to eat cooked food
B) cooking doesn't kill nutrients -__- it just breaks them down and makes them easier to absorb
C) your pet can get bird flu from infected raw meat
"AI will let us turn PhDs from 4 year degrees into 6 month degrees!"
Literally shitting on the part that makes it intellectual development. It requires things like *reading* for yourself and *writing* for yourself. Those aren't chores, they're part of skills acquisition and critical development.
Pick a minority. Remove access to healthcare. Remove access to socialisation. Remove legal protections in the workplace. Make it acceptable and necessary in people's minds. Then pick the next group.
That’s fascism for you.
Which is to say, I’m unbelievably thrilled to say this morning I’ve signed a contract with @mitpress.bsky.social for the trade publication of my next book, an exploration of the first two decades of TTRPG Actual Play.
Well, that and nitrogen fixing.
I operate from a foundational belief validated by the world all around me that “wokeness” if you will (as we always meant it before you perverted it with appropriation) is normative in the Black community to a far greater degree than among whites. Including the Black sell outs & corporate people.
quick reminder that NT's production of The Importance of Being Earnest, starring human ray of sunshine Ncuti Gatwa, will be streaming FOR FREE on YouTube this weekend

The toxic fumes alone, amount to ongoing, uncontained, chemical warfare against the residents of Tehran.
It’s wild MLK and Malcom X were both randomly killed by some random people in some random location and the FBI just happened to be nearby. Anyways I have journalism Coming soon on these topics 😈

Reddit screenshot from Glasgow thread. Bright flames rising out the side of a Victorian building.
Video screenshot from Reddit. Building is now a shell with flames visible in every window.
The roof has collapsed embers rise into the night sky.
The fire at Glasgow central station is utterly devastating. Shops, homes and our transport link to England are being wiped out.
I am amazed by the limited news coverage.
I wonder what percentage of Americans knows that the CIA helped overthrow a democracy in Iran in 1953, installing a brutal dictator who tortured and murdered people. Republicans keep citing the 1979 Islamic Revolution as if that was the start of U.S.-Iran hostilities. Go back 26 years earlier.
Legitimately Good movie. I hate it.
Mulholland Drive
• Veterans who were discharged from the uniformed services due to sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. - They do not need to live in Washington. - They do not need to enter school within a certain amount of time after separating from the military. - They maintain resident student status as long as they stay continuously enrolled. - Does not apply to veterans who have a dishonorable discharge from the uniformed services.
TIL that military service members who were discharged for their sexual orientation or gender identity qualify for in-state tuition rates in Washington regardless of their residency!

DoD obviously knows where it conducted TLAM strikes and could have acknowledged responsibility for this tragedy even while it investigated the attack.
Footage reviewed and geolocated by Bellingcat confirms US tomahawk missiles hit the girls’ primary school in southern Iran that killed 175 people, most of them children.
Researcher Trevor Ball notes Israel does not possess Tomahawk missiles. United States does.
This is a really good article.
