A great white egret taking to flight in front of some reeds.
On a recent visit to #wwtmartinmere I was watching the small woodland birds in the Janet Kear hide when this great egret dropped in very briefly. The whole visit lasted maybe 30 seconds and I was able to get this when it took off.

Thanks Helen. Reds are really lovely, seemingly more playful and enjoyable to watch than greys. The ones at Hawes are a small red island in a sea of greys but they are doing well and beginning to spread out. The people supporting them are doing a wonderful job.

Had a wander up the snow laden Penhill in the Yorkshire Dales. Some impressive depths of snow up there. Bit tricky for photo subjects, but this line of tree's viewed from the top caught my eye.
