My mom had a very mild case of polio as a child. I have friends not much older than me who are seriously disabled from polio: they missed getting the polio vaccines by just a few years and are both enraged and astounded that anyone would pass on vaccinating their children.

The treatments remain available to affirm the gender or treat cis kids! Puberty blockers are available for menstruating 8-year-olds and boys who develop feminine-looking breasts can be treated for that. It's ridiculous.

Oh - I think that Elizabeth Cree would work better on stage than on record.
No particular suggestions; I've heard just a bit of his instrumental music. His new Emily Dickinson song cycle has gotten some good reviews - I don't know whether Joyce Di Donato will be taking it to St. Louis, though.
His opera "Elizabeth Cree" is pretty great. I found "Silent Night" not nearly as good as, say, the Pulitzer committee thought it was. 😂

In opera, there's Wagner, and there we have to continue to grapple with his being both a terrible person and a creator of great works. They cannot be separated. (And he's been dead since 1883.)
