Excerpt from Moonbeam on the Lake: They stay like that for some time, Kieran's deft fingers massaging through Silas's damp hair, before Silas feels one of his fingertips drag up the back of his neck. He's halfway through making an embarrassing sound, high in his throat, before he startles and nearly chokes on it, pitching forward with a hand darting to cover his skin. He can feel the blood rush to his face and the tips of his ears. "Are you okay?" Kieran's voice comes soft and deep, and it does nothing to slow his racing heart. "It's just," he starts, turning his head just enough to catch a glimpse of his dark, dark eyes. "Sensitive..." Silence falls over them for a moment. The air is charged with something Silas doesn't know how to name. It feels like something important is about to happen. Kieran leans forward, reaching out to touch him, and Silas squeezes his eyes shut, not knowing what he's even expecting. He feels one of Kieran's hands land on his collarbone, the other a gentle support between his shoulderblades, and he opens his eyes as he feels himself being leaned back against the tub again. He tucks his chin and stares through the bubbles, cheeks warm as he concentrates on the feeling of porcelain on his back, trying to will his pulse to slow.
