An imposing entrance to a home framed by two busts

Part of a row of Victorian townhouses in Glasgow, from the 1870s I think; I love their occult energy. Like thereβ€˜s got to be a sΓ©ance or meeting of a secret society going on behind this door every night.

β€˜I wish I could push ChatGPT off a cliff’: professors scramble to save critical thinking in an age of AI As AI has upended the way students learn, academics worry about the future of the humanities – and society at large

β€œReliance on AI among faculty is also on the rise, with observers pointing to the dystopian possibility that the college experience may soon be reduced to AI systems grading AI-generated homework – β€œa conversation between two robots”.”

I wonder if, as now, the friendly Glaswegians chatted with Occom about the weather and asked what he was up to that day.

Holmwood Classical elegance and architectural tricks distinguish Alexander β€˜Greek’ Thomson’s finest domestic creation

Not sure if have any new 19th-century material to suggest! Maybe Greek Thompson’s house on the south side? He actually designed the building I live in too! The Burrell collection down there is great as well, and the adjoining park. www.nts.org.uk/visit/places...

I was teaching Gray’s Elegy and Mohegan writer Samson Occom together today to think about individual and collective commemoration and literacy. Strange to think that Occom read an Oneida wampum belt on stage here in Scotland in the 1760s!

Vast scale of overseas human remains held in UK museums decried by MPs and experts Exclusive: Guardian study finds UK museums hold more than 260,000 items of remains, often in sacrilegious ways

'Lord Paul Boateng said the findings exposed UK museums and universities as β€œimperial charnel houses where the bones of Indigenous peoples torn from Britain’s empire in the past, with little or no regard...continue to be retained to this day in circumstances that beggar belief”.'

Some 19th-century Mi'gmaw embroidery, done on birchbark with moosehair. It depicts strawberries, and women dressed in their fancy ceremonial dress gathering strawberries (the fruit is medicine associated with women, renewal, and the heart).
