Someone could disagree with me and that's fine, last week I just saw someone list a personality type for Mafuyu that was definitely wrong and I ended up running all the way down this rabbit hole.

It's funny how the career pictures do not match the character. I promise the written descriptions do 😂

Okay obligatory disclaimer that MBTI/16 Personalities does not encapsulate the entirety of someone's personality, it's just 4 letters- but I did personality type all 4 members of Niigo and it's kind of cool how well some of the descriptions fit:

Theory: "I don't know" is a mafuyu-coded answer, and ppl taking quizzes with very specific questions often say "I don't know" as a response

Pjsk "what character are you quiz" unfortunately horribly skewed towards people getting mafuyu as a result with 17% of quiz takers getting mafuyu and most other characters being the result only 1-5% of the time.

So, I'm going to say Mafuyu is mixed enough between J and P that it's most accurate to give this category an X.

This makes the final result INTX.

If I remember correctly, even if she was probably thinking about it beforehand, the actual moment when she runs away from home comes across as a little impulsive. She doesn't have a suitcase packed or anything- she just leaves. (In the event that goes with "Engeki")

or deciding last minute to go with N25 to the amusement park instead of taking her cram school mock exam (I think). I also think this is the event that goes with "Bug."

When Mafuyu is unmasked around N25, however, we see evidence of go-with-the-flow, in the moment behavior. A good early on example is Mafuyu suddenly wandering off to look at the sakura tree at the end of the mystery tour in Secret Distance,

I would argue, however, that she’s been forced into a role of being extremely J all the time. She had the idea she wanted to be a nurse and her mother twisted that plan into being a doctor, and Mafuyu followed that plan religiously because of the pressure she felt to do so.

The last letter is J or P, Judging or Prospecting. The names for this one are unnecessarily confusing- Judging is just planning out your life in advance and Prospecting is go-with-the-flow. J is okay for Mafuyu- she does like to have a plan.

to make your decisions based on logic, there are downsides if you can logically convince yourself that something is true when actually it goes against what you Feel and what you actually want.
