Also as a small side tangent, there IS a Macintosh style people follow lol, specifically in emulating the original Macintosh computer with its dithered black and white graphics.
SGI workstations were capable of a lot of different 3D graphics, but there was a very strong tendency to make renders that look like what we see in things like SM64 and DKC. I think considering these trends it's totally reasonable to call it SGI style.
Not necessarily, if a style is strongly associated with a system, whether it be because of software/hardware limitations or choices, or simply a strong trend, then I think it's appropriate to call it as such. PS1 and N64 graphics are both "Low Poly," but they're very distinct from one another.
I think something important that deserves repeating is that most of the artist advice you find on here and Twitter is meant for people trying to turn art into a CAREER. If you are like me and just do this for fun, that advice should largely be ignored, lest you turn a hobby into a chore.
